Reinstalled the game recently after a long break to find that i simply cannot use my DS4 controller.

i am using the Ubisoft launcher version of the game.

It does not work at all when plugged in via USB. It appears to be recognized for a split second sometimes, since when i move the left control stick repeatedly the icons in menus change for a split second before going back to keyboard. No input is recognized. The same thing happens if i connect it via bluetooth.

controller recognition was set to Auto during this.

If i connect it via bluetooth using DS4 windows the game works well for about five minutes.
After a random time interval has passed the controller will simply disconnect and not pair up again until i quit the game.
Selecting the Hide DS4 option or not makes no difference. Changing what kind of input the game recognizes in the option (auto or xinput only) makes no difference. Using a startup argument in the launcher to do the same thing makes no difference.

Rebooting my computer makes no difference.
Reinstalling the controller makes no difference.
Verifying game files makes no difference.

I would like to be allowed to keep playing the game i paid for.

Hi Anodar37!
Do you get any errors when the controllers disconnects?
Does the controller only disconnect in For Honor, or does this happen with other games as well? Have you possibly got a second controller you could test?

Thanks for providing that information, Anodar37!

As DS4windows is an additional software, please note that we are unable to provide support for the use of this.

The Sony PS4 Controller should work without the addition of DS4windows. I understand that when you connect your DS4 to the PC via USB or bluetooth, it isn't detected by the game. Thanks for trying another controller. This suggests the problem does not lie with the controller itself.

Can you let us know which launcher you're using to play For Honor from (Ubisoft Connect/Steam/Epic)? If using Steam, are you using Steam Big Picture mode?

Can you please check your controller options for us? You can do this by going to Options -> Controls -> Controller Type. Here, you can see what your controller type is set to. Could you let us know what that is currently set to, and if you're able to change it to DS4 input?

Thanks!

Thanks for providing me with more information, Anodar37.

It's possible that there could be some additional software on your system that could be conflicting with the game and controller, and preventing it from being detected. Could you try running a clean boot and try playing the game with your controller connected via USB for us?

If the issue persists after trying a clean boot, please don't hesitate to update this thread. Thanks!
