These bugs and broken features need fixed. It is so aggravating having to see new updates with all of this added content, but the same problems/bugs/broken features remain in the game. I run nightly games in Creative on my custom built maps. As in, I am responsible for a community who pretty much play nothing but my Creative maps and have forgone normal Fortnite. We need these BASIC features fixed just to run smooth games.
Join in Progress
- In my round-based games, almost every time someone joins mid-game, the game crashes and most, if not all, players get booted. It even happens now when someone just joins the HUB while we are in-game. We have made a community-wide rule to not join games/hubs in-progress. This simply should not have to be the case. We SHOULD be able to use the, "Join in progress" feature set to "Spawn on next round," and have players joining the games freely. However, this feature DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. How has this not been addressed? Our games are "Two teams, 8v8 max, round-based, no respawn." There are 8 spawn pads for each team on each side. Even if the room is not full, Join in Progress is completely broken. It has never worked once. Not once. In games where you spawn in the sky or respawn, it may not even be an issue, I don't really know. For round-based, spawn pads, it doesn't work. I currently have the setting set to, "Spectate," but it simply doesn't matter what it is set to.
Here is an example of the bug: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/476462457
Spectating
- Spectating is completely broken, as well. When you die it is a complete clustf***, mixed bag of who you spectate every game. Every single game. You spectate people from your own team as well as people from the opposing team. Not all of them, mind you. Generally, it is one or two from your own team and one or two from the opposing team. "Allow Spectating Other Teams," is naturally set to, "No," but it doesn't matter. It might as well not even be an option because it has NEVER worked. From the time it was implemented, it has never worked correctly. In a round-based, one life (no respawn), tactical shooter game mode, it is crucial that you cannot see where the other team is and relay that to your teammates.

Game Chat/Party Chat
- Your chat is completely broken. We have to split teams up like this, Team 1 stays in "Party Chat," Team 2 goes to "Game chat." If everyone is game chat on both teams, the first round works properly, with teams being separated into their own chats. However, once players die and enter the "dead chat" they stay there until they manually switch to something else. Therefore, both teams are in the same chat together the next round, even while alive. Obviously, not what we want. The separating of teams into Game and Party still has a ton of issues. For one, party chat players who are dead can always talk to their alive teammates. In my game modes, not good. It is a tactical based game mode that requires a lot of strategic comms. Two issues: The dead players can assist alive teammates with comms giving an unfair advantage over the opposing team. The next issue, dead players simply cannot talk to each other because it will interfere with the comms of the living, aka, hogging the mic.
The other "Game Chat" team is even more f***ed. The "game chat" team, if they win the round, everyone who died in that victory round has to switch to party chat (leaving the dead chat), and then switch back to game chat, in order to re-enter the chat they are suppose to be in (the one with their teammates that lived). If the "game chat team" loses, then most of the time everyone died and they can just stay in the "dead chat" together. Sounds better, but if someone happens to do the chat switch during this, they go into a game chat alone and cannot talk to their team AT ALL during the round. Unless, the entire team does the chat switch to join them. My maps are designed and require a ton of strategic play. Sacrificing several seconds at the start of the round just to be able to talk to your teammates is often a death sentence and is completely ridiculous. The chat is completely BROKEN. It is so, so bad and has been like this for weeks.
Seriously, these elaborate systems and crazy new content requests should not be priority. They are luxuries. We need the basic features that are already here fixed first. They are necessities. Key components to something greater. I wish an EPIC employee could sit in (or play) one night of my games to see how many ridiculous issues we have to go through, nightly. Luckily, I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated community who still loves the maps and game modes enough to go through all of the nonsense on a nightly basis. When things are smooth, they are glorious.
Here is a video showing a couple examples. The first one is when I screw up and switch out of the "dead chat" when we all had previously died the round before. The result, I am in game chat alone for that round. The second one is showing how I HAVE to switch out of the "dead chat" after winning the previous round, because I died during that round. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/488874897
