You can now earn more Rank Points than you did before for the same match result.
Hi Survivors, we’re excited to share with you a significant change to how Rank Points will be calculated for ranked Battle Royale in Season 31. We hear the feedback from fellow players, and adjustments have been made to improve the rank-up experience for Heroic and above. Read on to learn more about the specifics of why and how we’ve updated the ranked system.
Reasons For The Change
The journey from Bronze all the way to pre-Heroic is generally smooth and steady, as long as players are honing their skills and strategies. However, once you reach Heroic, improving your rank can suddenly feel extremely challenging. This is because we previously designed to select Master players with a high bar such that they are not only able to survive till the final moments of a match but also can eliminate a lot of enemies along the way. This means that it would be hard for a Heroic player to rank up unless a top placement and high elimination numbers were achieved.
While our initial design ensured that Master players were players who consistently performed well on both, it also created unintended issues such as:
Underwhelming Rank Points or even Rank Points deductions for players who were the last few survivors but eliminated few enemies;
Underwhelming Rank Points or even Rank Points deductions for players who eliminated a lot of players but did not become the last few survivors;
An over-reliance on the bonus Rank Points from daily missions, making the process feel more like a chore;
Insufficient recognition for players between Heroic and Master ranks on their progression.
We have been investing efforts to alleviate the situation for some time. In the upcoming season, we are confident the changes to our Rank Points formula will improve your journey of climbing above Heroic, and players’ skill levels are reflected appropriately. We expect more optimizations to come in the near future, and we will closely monitor the changes to the ecosystem in the current season.
We listed a few examples to help you understand the changes in Rank Points calculation:
For Heroic and above (squad)–
Booyah + eliminated 1 enemy: 10~25 rank points → 15~35 rank points
Booyah + eliminated 10 enemies: 25~50 rank points → 30~60 rank points
#10 + eliminated 1 enemy: -35~-15 rank points → -20~-10 rank points
#10 + eliminated 10 enemies: -15~10 rank points → -5~15 rank points
We hope to bring you a smoother ranking experience, you may be closer to achieving Master than you think!
In the future, we plan to make notable improvements to many other rank-related features, such as the UI, missions, and Rank Tokens. For CS-Ranked, we are also working to improve by awarding more Protection Points to players who performed well in each match. Another upcoming change that we are excited about is a buff to the calculation of Rank Points for games played on maps other than Bermuda.
