47s it's just more survivability so we'll

80s all sorts of other stuff they do they
81s help with kids getting in to play sports

233s what's your take on the topic of what
234s developer wants versus what the player

237s ain't that a deep topic i mean

244s especially in a situation where there's
246s a heavily established player base
249s um and a very large player base already
252s it does change things a little bit so

255s i feel like it's and also with us being
257s in early access the game's not out yet
259s there's probably a lot less pressure on

264s maintain the status quo and to just sort
267s of respect the things that have been
268s there for a long time i think it's much
270s more expected of us

273s new game that's not actually even
275s properly out yet to to to to have much
279s more drastic changes

284s haven't uh i haven't actually been asked

361s and sometimes they'll go back
363s and they'll completely flip stuff on

368s well after you've bought and paid for it
369s you spend way more money on magic than
371s you do on pathmax though my goodness

379s it's and sometimes that also doesn't get
382s received very well
383s so it's it's it's interesting um
386s and even in situations like that with a
387s little flat out band thing you can spend
389s hundreds of dollars on things and then
391s they'll just be like all right this card
392s is no longer legal to play
395s like that's brutal right

400s and it has to be done for the like
403s for the health of the game as a whole
407s so that's sometimes that sometimes does

460s multiplayer as an example of a few hours

465s program yeah i think there's a big
466s misconception with that with the tester
468s programs where people think like oh i'm
470s not a hardcore gamer i i um so i'm not
474s eligible for it or something like that
475s or like i i don't have um
479s decades of testing experience on other
480s games so i'm not eligible for anything
482s like that um and i i don't do that i
485s want to say if you're interested in it
486s apply
487s like don't don't worry about all that
489s sort of stuff
490s um it's really useful for us to get
494s a cross-section of players people that
496s have varying levels of experience that
498s are going to be doing different actions
500s in game that are going to be finding
501s different things if if we only had like
504s the the top point one percent of players
507s like that are pushing in the arena
509s and and monolith and speed running and
510s like we only had those like super high
513s um
514s like play hours and experienced players
516s it was the only there we'd get a very um
519s one-dimensional
521s set of feedback for uh from the
523s multiplayer test and so we it's really
525s important that we actually get a broad
527s cross-section of our entire player base
529s um the one thing that i would ask is
531s that if you if you want to get into the
533s testing and you want to play
535s with the multiplayer testing and the ct
536s testing like um
539s like if you're gonna take the time to
540s apply and the time we're gonna take to
541s review and everything like that like
542s please actually play it i guess it's the
544s only thing like um
546s only apply if you're gonna be able to
548s like
549s play for more than an hour
552s i know it seems like a ridiculously low
553s bar but like there's some accounts that
555s we've seen like they have less than an
556s hour of ct time and and part of that is
559s it's not it's not running the entire
560s time people may not have been like
562s people coming out of town and we haven't
564s run it for like 24 7 for a long time for
566s at all yet so like that's starting so
568s it's not like
569s terrible or anything yet um
572s but yeah if you're gonna do it just like
574s play a little bit

582s that's it yes you'd be considered still
585s um but one thing we're really looking
587s for is uh more regions so if you're in a
590s less densely populated region you'll
593s probably be picked up faster

607s it's when it's ready it's kind of the

617s features plan for 1.0 are sort of in and

760s and realized that like it's basically
761s just my voice and there's no sound from

812s i think there's been two dev vlogs since

819s we announced that maybe it wasn't uh
822s right after that one maybe there's been
823s three actually anyways um we have since
825s then announced that we are no longer
826s doing patch
829s 0.8.6 anymore so that was going to be
832s the next patch as we're on eight five
834s right now

837s we're skipping
839s eight
840s six like we were playing to before and
842s we are instead going to be running
844s straight into point nine which is
846s multiplayer

857s uh now that we're we're doing that it's

860s a little bit longer now that that dev
862s blog is what you're referencing

868s promise the patch in september that is i
869s think a a fairly big misconception about

874s um devlog said i have to go back to my
876s exact wording but basically the devlog
878s was saying that we were aiming for
880s roughly september

883s the patch will be in september those are
884s two very different statements so we were
886s at um
887s september ish was probably gonna happen
890s uh and then we announced that we were
892s changing it to
894s later than that so later than september
896s ish
897s uh which is not does not mean
900s october which means later than september

903s um for 0.9

910s so hopefully that clears that up a bit
911s we don't have a specific timeline for
913s when the next patch will be
915s but i see right after that someone says
917s end of the turn probably probably please
919s don't say that because it's uh
920s unfortunately misleading and not true we

932s on the details of the trading system
933s that will be added to multiplayer when
935s it comes along
937s um we know that it's a very important
938s topic for a lot of people and it is
940s something we're taking very seriously

944s have been like we've been playing
945s multiplayer internally without any sort
947s of item transferring system whatsoever
952s and uh it sucks when you pick up an item
956s that you know the person you're playing
957s with uh can't use and that's just that
959s just stings
961s so we've definitely been feeling that
963s for the past little while

966s we did have our first successful
971s uh item transfer through networking
974s from one character back to that same
975s character but still i transferred
977s through the network
978s that has happened at least once now

1012s she's she's kind of the
1015s uh like the storyline

1026s so you know it's it's supposed to be a
1028s bit of a challenge like uh
1031s i beat the game sort of being able to
1032s say that as like a
1036s an actual like difficult thing to do is

1050s while we're doing all those half things
1051s we put in our are an experiment so we
1053s experiment with uh with different
1056s levels of difficulty as we go and then
1058s definitely was definitely ramped up but
1060s we knew it was gonna be quite hard um
1061s we've had patches since then we could
1063s have done we have but not as much as
1065s some people would like probably
1067s um it's also not
1069s um i guess mandatory content to like get
1072s into the in-game systems so we weren't
1074s too worried about it being uh
1076s like oppressed in that sense
1082s uh why is there no waypoint there so i
1083s can fix my build when i die without
1085s running all the way back there
1086s uh
1088s yeah okay that might be that might be a
1090s little uh a little frustrating so maybe
1092s maybe a little mistake there

1096s prob probably a probably a good good
1097s suggestion there to
1099s have something closer and what did you
1100s deserve this you were awesome

1140s minimum number of hours played um

1151s you don't play at all it's it's
1153s kind of like
1155s if you're gonna take the time to to get
1157s in and everything like um just just take
1159s some time to play

1164s have to play or anything like that

1434s answer that true because any changes

1453s bigger fish to fry however we haven't
1454s really spun up our

1516s there's there's lots of lots of
1518s different things we'll be adding
1521s um and and they're pretty pretty varied
1524s so there's
1525s straightforward things that affect
1527s basically every class every character
1528s possibly
1530s or actually any character class really
1532s and that's just like unique items so new
1534s unique items um lots of games do this
1536s it's a pretty basic thing but it does
1538s add a surprising amount of um build
1541s options off of just like some one little
1543s thing just like here's a unique item
1546s can have big impacts
1548s uh so yeah lots of unique items
1552s um
1555s just just gear rebalances and changes in
1557s general i think is is something that
1559s will be popular on basically every patch
1562s um
1564s we'll also be adding new skills as we go
1567s sometimes it'll be replacing old ones
1568s sometimes we'll be adding new ones
1570s um there is room in this panel to add
1573s more we intentionally built this in such
1575s a way that we've got planned out spaces
1576s to add more skills into it um there's
1578s room to unlock more skills here there's
1581s room to unlock more skills here
1583s uh there's room to unlock more skills
1586s just by level there's room like there's
1588s room for to unlock new skills all over
1589s the place um
1591s we can we can even just changing skill
1593s trees can have a big impact on builds
1595s because it can impact multiple different
1596s builds
1597s for different things
1599s it's an info in this tree
1601s um
1604s what else is there so like adding new
1605s dungeons adding new
1607s monoliths adding new systems
1610s to things to do supplementary systems
1612s for those systems and new in-game
1614s systems um the question is really
1618s oh character customization was
1619s specifically part of them um
1623s uh
1624s adding whole new masteries adding an
1626s extra mastery i'm adding a whole new
1628s class
1629s we've got all those sorts of things that
1630s are long-term long-term plans

1639s else i could not do that this this
1642s bridge in this little temple

1645s this bridge is really funny
1647s um so this bridge is
1649s uh was the first well it used to be a
1651s log not a stone like this and it was the
1655s first bridge added to the game

1662s functional and actually work nicely

1668s of the wrong zone
1671s zones have changed so many times but i
1673s cannot do that

1692s saw a video of a devouring or void
1694s knight clearing 500 corruption taking
1695s all of his gear off and relying only on
1698s skills yes i've seen that in the video
1700s too making gearing not feeling very
1702s impactful after skills reach level 20.
1704s there's gonna be more balance here to
1705s make the item chase more impactful um so
1707s i will say like a couple caveats here
1710s that that is a
1712s uh extreme case
1715s and um
1717s most things
1718s aren't that extreme that there are
1721s several examples like that yes um but i
1724s would say the majority of things are
1727s are not that extreme
1730s um
1736s and then the answer to the question is
1737s yes this is something we've been talking
1738s about for a while we do want to
1740s um shift the scaling
1743s further away from
1745s uh just strictly what you get out of
1746s skill points by default and more towards
1748s something that will scale as you go
1750s through the game and are still getting
1752s gear because that's the super late game
1754s scaling that happens comes or chase i
1757s shouldn't say the tail end of the of the
1759s character progression comes from the
1761s gear i kind of do that
1763s um and and having the
1765s percentage of damage that comes
1767s so low does put a damper on that chase
1770s so we are going to be looking at
1774s ways that we can shift the balance of
1776s power more towards gear and that's not
1778s to say completely off of skills but just
1781s more towards gear
1783s but we've got a few different ways that
1784s we're looking at doing that but it's
1786s nothing set in stone yet

2141s slightly lighter shade of red would be
2144s less that's not an actual ftx or

2149s would cost less than say a

2153s a full character visual overhaul that
2156s came with a pet and
2158s several uh ability view effects changes
2160s you know like like the depending on what

3729s we definitely say like okay this is
3731s really good in this class like mark's

4418s general is you're usually bouncing
4420s around how much damage you can take in a

4424s and trying to have health recovery
4427s options so that you can
4429s um take a hit not die and recover back
4432s up to the point where you can take a hit
4433s and not die this time with more um
4436s more in-game stuff generally
4438s and i know not all builds are like this
4439s either but that's normally what your
4441s most builds are trying to do i think and
4443s um
4446s so so in order to sort of help with that
4448s we're quite often looking at um
4452s just just increasing health of enemies
4453s rather than damage output because uh or
4457s you'd be ending up with
4459s situations where
4460s like people have a build where it's like
4463s all right this build can play solo but
4464s this build can't play multiplayer um
4467s because the damage that it takes just
4468s kills it
4470s um and we know there are like defensive
4472s buffs you can get from playing a
4473s multiplayer and everything uh to help
4474s with that but
4476s you know we don't want to make those
4477s mandatory
4481s um we are looking at mechanical there's
4483s more things we are still looking at and
4484s could potentially do uh to increase
4487s difficulty possibly through mechanical
4488s changes um an example i'd like to give
4491s within with answering this question is
4493s uh relating it to diablo 2. surprise um
4497s i like to do that a lot and
4499s uh diablo himself indiana 2 has an
4502s ability like a bone cage ability which
4505s is i think a fantastic multiplayer
4507s ability and a really awful single player
4509s ability um because it's so hard to avoid
4512s it in single player and you can get
4513s stuck in it you're just uber you just
4515s can't do anything you can't like get
4517s yourself out of it

4530s multiplayer you can't do a single player

5317s ball it's actually a capsule um
5320s so it's not it's not like there's a
5321s collider for like the the shoulder and
5323s the arm and the leg and the head and the

6341s and if you kill the decoy before it

6347s incentivizes you to attack the decoy so

6354s interaction it's one of my favorite boss

6744s like there's there's lots of weapons

6757s thing that's unique about it really is

6760s unless you're playing a bow rogue all of
6762s those nodes are useless so the rate is a
6764s little bit higher you're right

6780s rose and and it's hard to say if or when

6852s it really does incentivize
6854s like you find a piece of gear that's

6856s unbelievably great for another class
6858s another build you're not playing and it
6860s says hey maybe make another build maybe
6862s try another character and try something
6863s new like play around with this new item
6865s you found build build around me um and i
6867s think that that's a really cool thing to
6869s happen where you like
6870s um you find some amazing item and you're
6872s like oh i can make this build i'm gonna
6874s go try that and you get something
6876s something new going and i think that's
6878s really fun that's something that excites
6879s me in games like this i know it's not
6881s for everyone but i don't think that the
6883s rate that we're pushing off class gear
6886s is to a point where it's going to become
6889s um like mandatory to make these other
6892s builds
6893s um for like
6895s your time investment ratio finding stuff

6899s what ends up happening for the most part

6938s sentinel you can be finding gear for

6941s and that other character at the same
6942s time as well so i think the overlap with
6945s your own stuff bounces it out enough
