I understand that EHG wont be having Exp Loss as a base line mechanic built into the foundation experience of the game which is a solid choice and im all for it. But would it be possible for to have Exp Loss as an option for (lack of a better term) juicing endgame mechanics such as the monolith?

Maybe not as a simple toggle option. But i think having a fairly rare item (lets call it a Knowledge Token) you can effectively Wager your EXP onto and use that to empower certain aspects of monoliths could be fun. Depending on how much EXP you wager could give you more options of what to empower.

I dont think it should be something easily accessible (Make it something equivalent to a T3 unique from PoE for example) but should also potentially be tradable on the market for people to have a bit more access to if they really wanna blast.

Empowering things like Rarity, Quantity, Pack Size, Pack Rarity and with enough exp wagered even an entire secondary target could be possible while also giving more dangerous affixes on packs of monsters. Maybe go even crazy and offer a Weavers Will spawn if enough experience at level 100 is put into it.

I think a lot of unique "Opt In" mechanics could really help beef up the monolith system as well as other endgame mechanics they add to the game. This would allow players mold their own endgame experience to what they enjoy.

It's a neat idea and I kinda alluded to something like this in an interview I just did. Afterwards I realized a couple big problems with something like this though.

  1. It adds a burden of optimal play that will force players to play in a way that they don't enjoy in order to be optimal.

  2. We can't ever reduce a character's level. So once you do hit lvl 100, this just becomes a flat boost and farming becomes "sub-optimal" until you hit 100. Suddenly the rhetoric is that the game doesn't really start until you hit 100. This isn't an MMO, we want the end game to start pretty early still. That's why the first monolith is only level 55.
