201s it thoroughly but uh i've only harvested
203s one pepper so far i'm i'm still holding
205s out hope that they'll pick up

211s plant and a flower on a ghost pepper
213s plant but they're tiny plants so i can't
215s imagine them producing very big peppers

291s don't see much need to do story beyond
294s getting the passive skills and idol

299s um yeah so there's there's this weird
302s dichotomy that happens with the story so

305s really a useful way for us to get
308s um specific rewards in the in the hands
311s of new players as you're leveling up a
312s character things things that help you as
314s you go things that we know you're going
315s to need at certain points in the game

318s stuff like that so it's it's really
320s useful for things like that like like
321s giving you little boosts little um
324s tangible long-term rewards like passive
325s points and idle slots things like that

328s it's tricky to hand out like
331s really powerful
333s uh

337s uh quest rewards throughout the campaign

340s because it creates this
344s that's all going to the same i just want
345s to mention i just want to
346s mention uh tahario thank you for
348s resubbing 15 months in a row that's a
350s long time as well you guys you guys been
353s around for for
354s quite a while i think that's the
355s beginning
359s july development update oh you want a
360s july development update interesting i
362s don't know if there's one in the works
363s or not
368s but i'll i'll ask for you

375s oh yes about quest rewards campaign
377s awards so there's there's this thing
380s people like making a lot of characters
381s and we want to make the campaign
383s uh fun and useful to do
386s uh but having too much of it be
390s like static and mandatory
393s puts a little bit of handcuffs on us as
395s far as
396s uh
397s like
399s allowing for skips of subsequent
401s characters things like that um
405s so we we try and give rewards but lots
407s of lots of like hard character rewards
409s that you can only get from the campaign
411s we try to make it so you can get them
412s from multiple places in the campaign
413s that's sort of the general goal

431s that is nice

443s and
447s they're saying oh yeah campaign rewards
449s and yeah so i
452s i think there's going to be we
454s i know we have plans for more variety
456s in
457s quest rewards in games specifically in
459s the realm of um gear rewards which is
462s one thing that we've never we've never
464s had is this like oh you've completed
466s this um select one of these four pieces
469s of gear and we can put one of the really
471s big things that are useful about that is
472s that we can put things uh um
474s that are
476s really specific in there and possibly a
479s little tricky to get to enable certain
481s leveling play styles that weren't really
483s very great before so a good example of
486s this i think is there's a point with
488s throwing builds that you get to where
490s they kind of drop off in the middle of
491s the campaign
493s and i think that um
496s there'd be a really good quest reward at
497s some point near there near the middle
506s there we go

508s uh there'd be a really good quest reward
510s somewhere in there in the in the middle
511s game where we could say like okay here's
514s here's like a really specific only good
516s for throwing builds item here's a really
518s specific only good for like cold spell
521s damage builds you know like and we could
523s put a few really specific items in there
525s and a couple more generic ones um
528s and i think it would it would let us
530s get uh
532s a little bit of a helping hand to a few
534s builds partly through the campaign i
535s think there's a few spots that are good
536s for that for a few different types of
537s builds
540s uh but as far as specific incentives for
542s chapter nine
544s i i i'd like to see the
547s campaign bosses
549s just getting better drop rates in
551s general just dropping more stuff and
552s getting better drop rates in general so
554s that you're like okay if i do
556s if maybe maybe if my character is not
558s doing amazing that's cool just off the
560s bridge
561s maybe my character is not doing amazing

566s i love ragdoll and bridges um
568s you you can be like okay well i'm gonna
569s go do
571s this boss and get a good chance of
573s getting some sweet gear for my character
575s to get into modeling's easier or
576s something like that
580s which will just naturally happen to
581s newer players because they'll do the
583s whole campaign probably
601s maybe a big drop boost for the first
604s kill
604s of campaign bosses yeah like um this is
607s something diablo 2 does and i think it's
609s really good where you have like
612s uh quest they're called quest drops so
614s um when you complete mephisto for
617s uh your quest
619s he
620s has it's a guaranteed minimum number of
622s drops is what it is so it um
627s the albuquerque's loot tables are are
629s quite quite brilliant but a little weird
631s sometimes if you don't understand what's
632s going on um
633s and so the
635s like
636s the number of items that drop
639s is based on the number of players in the
642s game
643s and a die roll
644s so it'll be like okay well if you're the
646s only player in the game you can have up
647s to five items drop
649s um
650s and it rolls for each of those items but
652s if there's eight players in the game
653s it's like guaranteed seven items to drop
655s or something like that like i don't know
656s what the actual numbers are
660s um but when you complete it for a quest
661s reward if anyone is completing the quest
664s anyone in the party is completing the
665s quest um it like sets the minimum number
668s of drops you're gonna get to a pretty
670s high number

673s and just when you have more cracks at
674s the
676s at the back you end up with just better
677s gear in general
690s oh will there be steam achievements for
691s le oh yeah
693s oh yeah
698s we didn't put any achievements in yet
700s part of that is just um it doesn't
703s advance the actual game development at

705s um so we want to
707s focus on the things that are really
708s important first and part of that is
710s i i think it's
713s so the like 100 in a game is is pretty
717s like there's incentives there for sure
720s um and we wouldn't want to have any
722s achievements that were impossible to get
724s to someone who
726s uh didn't get didn't join during early
728s access or something like that um so we
730s have to be pretty careful with which
731s achievements we did have
738s i think we figured it was just safer to
740s kind of hold off
751s an insect just landed on me and it
753s startled me
756s so i was not expecting it
764s do you need to get the harder monoliths
765s here because i'm just rolling through

826s of course the big thing is multiplayer

831s but is there anything else that's coming
832s in the patch that you're excited about
833s yeah there's lots of little things

842s that's always that trick isn't it um
844s there's like there's skill updates that
845s are happening um i know some
848s some that are i know i know some that
850s some people are really excited about
855s um like there's there's new uniques
858s new skills
860s oh all sorts of stuff like that like
861s there's just a lot more
863s i don't think there's any major large
865s systems planned at the moment
868s we're still quite a ways out so uh new
870s stuff could happen
874s that's one of the first items we added
876s to the game first uniques very early on
882s the the numbers the numbering scheme got
885s uh reset at some point

889s so there was like we had like everything
891s although all of the uniques were in like
893s the order that we added them to the game

896s and we were at about
899s 60 of them or so and the number scheme
900s got reset so it's just like the first 60
902s in a blob and then all then they're in
904s order after that um
907s so it's hard to tell
908s uh what's what's like the very first
910s ones were just from like the order they
911s were added to the list anymore
914s it's a sweet shield too like the way it
916s looks the the scepter goes with it my
919s goodness
924s yeah these are not great uniques for me
926s but uh
929s getting lots of drops which is nice

959s i don't have time to both work on the
961s game and uh play enough to showcase
964s different builds and i figure

968s most the reason people are here is less
970s to see me playing more to ask me
971s questions though me playing is just a
973s chance that i get to play because i like
975s playing and having fun
981s big things big things coming in point
982s nine that i'm really excited about it's
984s most for me it's mostly just there's
985s some skill reworks that have been
987s uh
989s on the books for a long time and and
991s just a lot there's just a lot of little
992s things really
995s actually not a bad base for helmet
998s crit health mana love it
1010s multiplayer is a big a big game changer
1012s really
1014s um
1018s there's just so much to do there
1021s we do we do know that a lot of people
1023s won't play multiplayer or will still
1024s play single player only in multi like
1026s online or something like that um and so
1028s we do want there to be new stuff for
1029s people to do and have fun and everything
1032s um
1034s but we don't have like
1036s a new entire ground-up system
1039s coming in or anything like that so
1040s there's no like
1042s uh like you know like monolith dungeons
1044s arenas there's nothing like there's not
1046s like the fourth thing that would go in
1047s that category
1048s coming uh in this
1051s patch i hope that makes sense

1093s will we be getting cutscenes skips

1119s play and solo play

1202s when you walk out into the world like
1204s um if you're not in a party and you're

1211s come into this zone without you saying
1213s it's okay
1215s like this version of this zone
1219s so uh the only way someone could join
1221s you here is if you
1223s uh joined a party with them
1225s and then they came into the zone
1227s other than that there's no way for them
1229s to get here
1237s i mean there's there's another way
1239s it's a real roundabout other way so you
1241s could join a party with someone else
1244s have them join the zone
1247s you leave that party and then them join
1249s the party that you were in with someone
1251s else
1255s yeah
1256s yes their instance
1262s those are the weird like
1265s what happens if situations you got to be
1267s prepared for when when we're like
1268s developing a multiplayer system like
1270s that that's that's the hard stuff where
1271s you're like
1272s what if someone tries to
1275s like okay you're doing uh you're
1278s designing how the reward structure at
1280s the end of
1281s um
1282s temporal sanctum is gonna go where you
1283s get to create a legendary item
1286s does one person get to make a legendary
1288s item does everyone get to make a
1289s legendary item
1291s um
1292s probably everyone right like that would
1293s make the most sense and not suck
1297s um
1298s so you you give everyone the ability to
1300s make a legendary item now
1303s uh if someone joins
1306s part way through do they still get their
1308s legendary do they have to join before
1310s the boss fight do they have to join
1311s before going into the reward chamber
1314s do they just have to
1316s uh join at some point do they have to
1318s and then like if you don't put any
1320s restrictions on it they can join
1321s whenever if someone just like beats it
1323s and then go stands in that room can they
1324s just cycle people through their party
1326s coming to make legendaries and just have
1327s someone sit there and they're in the
1328s zone
1329s what do you do to stop that um and it's
1331s just all these like weird quirky
1333s scenarios because you don't want it to
1335s feel like you're stopping people from
1337s playing or having fun or doing things
1339s but you need to stop abuse cases
1341s where there's like clearly breaking of
1344s intentions of the game you know
1347s without messing with people who are just
1349s playing normally
1353s there's all sorts of tricky edge cases
1355s like that
1359s one of those dope looking bee items
1361s coming um
1362s don't have any
1364s details on specifics there did you say
1367s ice thorns rework i did not say ice
1369s storms rework
1370s i wish i said iceland's rework uh will
1372s there be more unique ones and catalysts
1374s there seem to be fewer options than
1375s other item types
1378s uh i i only know of a couple specific
1381s uniques that are for sure going in
1383s because they're the ones that i've
1384s worked on um
1388s one one of them's the chest
1393s uh that you may have
1395s seen footage of being worked on on a
1398s different stream
1400s well maybe
1401s uh and
1403s a couple other little things too but
1405s there might be some more wands in
1406s catalyst i do agree that it's that it's
1408s light daggers i think are also still
1409s pretty light

1436s do you think that mercenaries led able
1438s to have a place in last epoch probably
1440s not at least not at 1.0 uh and if they
1443s are how customizable might they be made
1445s if ever

1448s inspired by that duo there with zarek uh
1450s during chapter eight yeah um
1457s i do really like
1459s the mercedes system in diablo 2 i think
1460s it works really well especially with the
1461s changes they made to it recently
1464s yeah
1464s um
1467s it's something that we've discussed
1469s quite heavily and have
1471s intentionally steered clear up
1474s um
1475s the reason for this i love 100 crit my
1478s goodness
1480s uh part of the reason we've steered
1481s clear of this so far
1483s is is this we do have a very heavy
1486s emphasis on class identity
1488s um and one of the major things that we
1491s use to differentiate classes from each
1492s other is minions
1496s um and the idea of having a
1499s like a humanoid like similar to you
1502s follower mercenary someone that's that
1504s you're paying to be there
1506s um
1508s thematically fits really well with the
1510s sentinel and not really well with almost
1512s anyone else i think
1516s i don't think like a battlefield
1517s commander that sort of thing
1518s and and
1520s as far as mechanical interactions go
1522s there's certain
1524s um
1526s classes that work a lot better with
1528s more things on the battlefield so to
1530s speak
1532s and and one extra body isn't a lot in
1534s some situations
1535s but
1537s certain people can take advantage of it
1538s way better than others now the same
1541s screen yellow too but i think to a
1543s lesser extent honestly
1545s um
1550s it's something that we might add there's
1552s kind of a nod to it in the there's an
1554s idol
1555s uh i know there's a relic sorry
1558s um
1558s that gives you a crossbow mercenary so
1560s there's kind of a little nod to it there
1565s um but it's not very customizable if we
1567s were to have one i think the
1568s customization levels would be fairly
1570s similar to diablo twos
1572s um deal with three is the same thing
1574s really uh where you've got like
1577s a few slots but not a full gear set type
1579s thing
1581s um
1582s or maybe uh like a skill tree so instead
1586s of having a gear slot system have it be
1587s like uh
1589s a skill shoe like they level up and you
1591s can pick skills for them that sort of
1592s thing or maybe both but i i it would
1595s there's there's a lot of complexity that
1597s that's there

1605s and i i don't think it's something we
1607s want i know it's something we've decided
1608s we don't want for one point at
1611s least the wrong way
1613s i may have gone the wrong way
1619s oh i went the right way nevermind not

1641s need some minions interns etc
1647s we have a lot of very talented people

1667s know he's got so many more important

1682s uh did you guys ever say that i say what
1684s kind of trade system you're planning on
1685s implementing no
1687s uh d3 style bind on trade something like
1689s that all i recall is no bizarre feels
1691s bad man
1692s and no free trade
1693s the trade system is still very much up
1695s in the air um

1698s don't have anything set in stone hard
1700s yet nothing's implemented yet um
1702s we're still
1704s figuring out the best thing to do
1708s there's a lot of conflicting
1710s requirements and it's kind of a cursed
1712s problem if if um
1715s if you're interested and never heard of
1716s the term curse problem there's a sweet
1718s gdc talk about it

1725s uh incurs problems are difficult to deal
1727s with but not impossible

1732s basically what it means is there's
1734s there's conflicting
1737s requirements so you want two things but
1739s they each say if you do this you can't
1741s do the other
1748s um so you'll find a creative solution
1765s so we're we're still working on exactly
1766s what's going to happen but i i think
1768s people will will
1771s it's it's also important to note that
1773s it's whatever we do decide on
1775s at least initially is is not set in
1778s stone like
1779s if we if we're like this is our training
1781s system and we get a ton of feedback and
1782s people are like this sucks

1792s is that uh like we're not afraid to

1797s so if it's if it's not good enough it's
1799s not living up to the standards

1861s level we want yet or the content

2027s expecting a lot of questions last week
2029s about it actually
2030s and someone mentioned it i think
2033s but no there's there's
2036s there's almost no impact on it and i i
2037s don't
2038s i don't foresee this having a very big
2040s impact on unity as a whole at all

3049s lightning trails or your

3053s you're mostly applying um ailments
3055s things like that like there's a lot of
3057s things where it's not about the initial
3058s hit
3059s um so you can you can use other you can
3062s use non-spear weapons to play with it
3065s really nicely

3069s and then the shield throw one has the
3071s downside of it takes away all your block
3073s when you throw your shield
3074s um like you just can't block at all
3077s um so there's there's sort of
3080s entry balancing uh effects or

3086s downsides to it

3385s the leveling process where you go

3392s i know that something awesome happens at
3393s level 50. um games that do this really
3395s well yeah uh wow wow does this
3398s unbelievably well with um
3401s like like mounting mounts um whatever
3404s the levels get mounted anymore but
3405s you're like oh i need to hit 30 to get
3408s my mount oh i need to hit 50 to get my
3411s fast mount oh i need to hit 70 to get
3414s flying mounts
3415s um
3416s probably way off on those numbers i'm
3417s sorry
3418s and um
3421s and and like you you really you push for
3423s those levels because when you do hit it
3425s you're like
3427s that's a sweet bump it's this it's this
3429s jump that happens
3430s um so we we we try we try and get that a
3433s little bit with um
3435s new skills to unlock at higher levels
3437s specifically which is tied
3440s kind of sideways with passives so you
3442s don't it doesn't necessarily always
3443s happen on level up and it's always the
3444s same level because of how many passive
3446s quests you do um or if you split into
3449s multiple skill trees as you're leveling
3450s or not but that's one of the ways we try
3452s and push that a little bit and i know
3453s that kind of links in with passives
3455s instead of uh
3458s skills there but that's that's something
3459s that's one sort of
3461s feeling moment we try and hit is
3463s uh
3464s is that and so so and a lot of that
3466s power is
3467s coming from
3468s just having new skills available as far
3470s as end game power distribution goes um
3475s i think i think a lot of what we're
3477s hoping you're getting power from is
3479s items
3481s and i know i know that's not the case
3483s right now um
3486s it is skewed too heavily towards skills
3489s for sure um
3491s and we try and build ways into
3496s the goal is to build ways into the
3497s skills themselves so that it changes how
3502s uh changes the effect that that your
3503s items have on them

3511s like it's more the goal from a power
3514s perspective
3515s to have power come from items
3518s and
3519s most functionality come from the skill
3522s trees themselves
3525s and then having passives work as more of
3527s a like an overall character archetype
3530s um more enabling things now that doesn't
3533s mean that there can't be unique effects
3535s that come from passives and there can't
3536s be power that comes from skill trees or
3538s anything like that um
3540s because we want sort of like a little
3541s bit of everything with everything

4006s that sark needs some love in their
4008s passive tree for sure
4009s and then as we add in the masters like
4011s as you add in rune master
4013s so we look at the base section of a tree

4017s in the context of this is the sorcerer
4020s rune master spellblade nodes they're
4023s primarily the sorcerer nodes but
4025s roommate rune master and spellblade do
4026s get access to these um and so when
4028s remaster comes in
4030s we need to re-look at the lower sorcerer
4032s nodes and the lower spellblade nodes in
4034s the context that remaster can also have
4036s access to them and then we also need to
4037s look at these
4039s the entire like the spellblade upper
4040s nodes and the sorcerer upper nodes and
4042s the lower nodes as well of all of them
4044s in the context that suddenly they now
4046s have access to the lower runemaster
4047s nodes as well
4049s so just the context of what's available
4050s changes everything needs to be looked at
4052s and as we're going in especially adding
4053s new masteries we're going to be looking
4054s at all the other trees in there as well
4056s just as as a whole
4059s so like
4061s the rogue trees the acolyte trees and
4063s the mage trees will all get decent looks
4066s when their mastery comes in and then
4068s they'll also get just looks in general

4683s get harder when you get more people so

4705s example a shred armor shred um an
4708s armature is a bad example but fire
4709s resistant shred is a good example
4711s uh so there's a maximum amount of stacks
4713s of fire resistant stretch i think it's
4714s 20.
4717s so if everyone brings a lot of fire
4719s resistance resistance shred it stacks up
4721s faster and it's really great because
4722s everyone's applying fire damage and
4723s their synergies there but there's that
4725s same cap you're never going to get more
4727s fire res shred total
4729s in a multiplayer setting than you are in
4731s a single player setting because there's
4732s a hard cap on it um and we try and we
4735s like there's all these things that
4737s conflict with each other because we try
4738s and avoid hard caps wherever we can

5841s like i want some stuff out of these but
5843s they're not like super great shatter

6309s just nothing's powerful because there's
6310s no way to get any increase by changing

6329s class um and there's i think less builds

6937s it's really an improvement getting a
6939s rare over a magic item for example um
6943s i the general feedback we get is the
6945s exact opposite of this actually
6947s especially in the sense that magic items
6949s or rare items come with more forging
6951s potential than magic items um
6954s so yes it's possible to get a
6957s it's less likely
6961s item drops
6962s it's less likely on that magic item that
6964s there's that there's an affix you don't
6966s need
6967s so it's looks like there's like a wasted
6968s affix slot
6970s however
6971s um with a mat with a rare item um
6975s there's
6976s like if you find the right rare item
6979s um
6979s it's going to be better because it's
6980s just the exact same thing as a magic
6982s item with an extra affix and more
6983s fortune potential on it so you can
6984s increase the levels of the as even more
6990s so on average
6992s uh
6993s the right magic item versus the right
6995s rare item the right rare item is better
7005s uh continuing the skill set for aura
7008s stacking idea uh the most problematic
7010s skills like the aforementioned holy aura
7012s can could only be applied to their
7014s owners whereas the parts which could be
7016s benefit the party could go to the pool i
7018s mentioned yeah that's another thing
7019s we've discussed too
7022s any thoughts on multi-spec especially as
7024s it may be handy for group play versus
7026s solo i i see what you're saying um
7029s really unlikely to have it it's not
7032s impossible like i

7035s don't like to rule things out but

7040s uh you could always just average all
7042s stats from stacking or as for example 10
7043s strength five strength two two hours
7045s come seven seven five strength yeah

7050s doing it efficiently is really important

7059s numbers is not bad

7085s doesn't know that there's another aura

7090s and unless you're standing at exactly

7095s you'd be affecting potentially different
7097s targets so some things would get
7098s affected by both and other things
7099s wouldn't so the calculations for each

7113s joining and exiting the auras radius
