930s and there's so many different ways that

934s effect didn't change how the nuances of

945s that's not the only thing that they've
946s come out with that we already had in our
948s game and i don't think any of those
949s other ones were stolen either really um
952s there was a volatile reversal

956s unfortunately but the one where you just
958s like press the button and it jumps you
959s back to a recent time and there's it
961s like shows you like a ghost
963s behind you which we've like toyed with
965s and everything and when we saw they were
967s announcing it we actually put a rework
968s for the skill on hold we wanted to see
970s uh how they solved a few problems that
972s we were we were having

975s and so we can keep it unique and we've
977s got some stuff for that that's different
979s than what they're doing um
981s that i think's gonna be really cool once
982s we once we finally get that put together
985s then that skill has some usability

988s uh right now
991s but i think it could be a lot of fun
997s and for anyone that's curious uh the the
999s prototype version that we were creating
1000s with usability upgrades still could turn
1003s it into the current version if you
1004s wanted
1010s this boss is really a lot better now

1014s a lot of the uh changes happened
1016s recently for performance
1025s how come added cold damage to your
1027s weapon won't freeze it just chills even
1029s when added with tons of freeze rate um
1032s added um inherent
1035s cold it's just a function of how we've
1036s done it um you know since freeze is a
1039s hard cc
1041s um
1042s giving one damage type a hard cc is kind
1046s of dangerous and either requires the
1048s damage on that that type to be way lower
1050s or the like the freeze to be pretty weak
1053s and
1054s um we figured it it works better where
1057s you have to have a specific effect or
1060s stat to like give you the freeze on top
1062s of it it's just the way we liked it
1068s i want to keep these things but i just
1070s want to like throw out other stuff
1075s aha so much room yes
1082s uh i have been saying i'm gonna fix this
1084s for years now one day we'll fix it
1088s so recognize there's a bunch of single
1090s item things instead of doing one it
1091s pairs them up
1096s all right i'm sure there was something i
1097s needed in there

1102s get to that experience now i went to the
1103s wrong one dang it that's okay

1113s large-scale ban of players from the
1115s in-game and disco channels for
1116s mentioning other games they made rules
1117s against discussing the games interesting

1130s um i don't know if you're gonna sit and
1131s discuss uh builds in poe
1134s not related to last epoch but just like
1136s the whole discussion is about what's the
1138s best build for this this upcoming league
1140s and it has nothing to do with last epoch
1142s yeah that that content's not encouraged
1144s in our discord and we do have channels
1146s specifically for off-topic discussion so
1148s i can see that being non-ideal but i i
1150s don't i don't know the circumstances
1151s like yeah

1198s the joss update this week and it's
1200s getting i was going to tell you awesome
1202s zone design thank you very much it

1207s voice acting familiar characters who
1209s might become super villains in the

1220s all right most important the boss fight
1221s just awesome design i just got to tell
1223s you seeing majesta rip herself apart by
1225s the void start was quite gruesome more
1227s gore and shocking than the most boss
1229s fights in other gory games like even
1232s diablo there's there's um i don't know
1234s if you've seen the uh the new update
1237s that just just went out uh yesterday day
1239s before somewhere there really really
1241s recently about um
1243s combat updates there's a death end
1245s there's new death animation for uh void
1247s penance and it is
1248s uh it's that's a little gruesome of a
1250s death animation
1255s it's quite nice
1256s it's it's interesting finding the time
1257s to use like death animations and when to
1259s use ragdoll and uh
1261s like when to use other
1263s combinations or other
1265s any sorts of other things as well uh
1267s just
1269s we're taking a lot of looks at combat
1271s feels and
1272s uh things like death animations and it's
1274s it's really interesting to see all the
1276s options and um
1278s things we've created recently so that's
1280s cool i got a couple little teasers for
1281s you on that
1283s okay here we go i'm going to play more
1285s here's one of my complaints
1287s it's so frustrating i can it's like it's
1289s a very you know you're talking on a
1291s phone to someone who's like on like an
1294s old handheld phone or like a really old
1296s cell phone back in the day when it would
1297s like
1298s uh you could like kind of hear yourself
1299s echoing through
1301s come back
1303s you you have a tough time talking
1305s because you want to listen to yourself
1306s finish the sentence
1309s whatever seven all right here we go
1311s uh any plans to add randomized events
1313s encounters in the echoes yeah there's
1315s lots of cool things we've got plans for
1317s especially in the monolith echoes
1319s because this is right now they're
1320s missing the key thing that's missing is
1321s a reason to explore um you kind of just
1324s go to the the quest and finish it there
1326s you go we've tried to add little things
1328s like the more things you kill the more
1329s um
1331s uh the more rewards you get at the end
1333s the more stability you get in total um
1335s so this bonus stability you gain for
1336s killing more things
1339s um and so there's like
1341s there's there's things we try to do to
1343s make you stop and fight stuff but
1344s there's not only anything we have to
1345s make you want to explore
1348s um
1349s and
1351s and we need we need to add things like
1353s that and pathfix has a really good um
1356s natural way of making you want to
1357s explore and that you have a limited like
1360s the key costs you like the the map sorry
1362s the key the map to get into the uh
1366s the map
1368s uh costs it has holds value in itself
1371s and so you want to get the most out of
1373s the map you can so intrinsically you
1374s just because the map has value and you
1376s have a limited time sometimes you can go
1378s back in and everything you want to just
1379s go and explore and get as much as you
1380s can
1381s um
1382s because we don't have that we have to
1384s come up with other things on top of that
1385s path of excel also
1387s has things like where you can just find
1388s a random map inside the map um you know
1391s there's random events that show up and
1392s things like that and by exploring you
1394s see more of those
1395s um
1398s and and so we've
1400s we've got a few other little tricks too
1402s to make exploring
1404s better because just adding those on
1406s their own doesn't actually make you want
1408s to explore um
1410s but there's things you can do to make
1412s certain
1413s maps either or certain echoes have uh
1416s like maybe a higher chance or
1419s uh maybe there's like uh you can like
1420s load up drop rate on a specific one and
1423s so if you get one of these special
1424s things in that specific one um it's even
1427s more valuable so there's like there'll
1428s be certain maps are like okay i gotta
1430s explore this one entirely or like this
1432s one i can just rush through and i think
1434s having like subtleties like that will
1435s really help a lot
1438s um
1439s i don't have any details of what i'm
1440s sort of vaguely referencing but but yeah
1442s we want to add things to make you want
1444s to explore which i know some people have
1446s been asking for for a long time um
1449s and it's i mean
1451s so many things people like we want this
1452s i'm like yeah we're working on it's
1454s gonna be a while

1466s horror stories you can share about it
1468s not really unity's been fantastic for us

1471s there's been a few little things here
1472s and there that like would have been
1473s nicer yada yada but like

1478s running really quickly and and
1480s facilitated us to
1482s like get this project off the ground
1483s really easily and like there's a lot of
1485s stuff that's been really great about it

1488s and i i don't think this project would
1490s look like it does today without it so i

1493s not that i want to share really
1496s because i like it
1498s give it up given all the things that
1499s could have been better
1501s i don't think we'd be where we are
1502s without it
1512s also what if they're listening i'm just

1519s are there plans to sign picking up
1521s shards to hockey not at the moment no
1524s but that like
1525s any plans to i mean
1528s doesn't mean much but no there's no

1630s thing the game's not finished yet and
1632s and a lot of you have had to endure with
1635s not awesome things in certain certain

1642s people who are here early and are are
1645s are with us before the game is actually
1646s out having them
1648s be influential in in the in the design i
1650s think is really uh it's a nice little

1744s which i'm very excited for everyone to

1761s so guys uh development on warlock

1765s falconer have not started
1767s uh apart from ideation and concepting
1771s generally what's going to happen roughly

1774s none of the skills have been started
1776s none of the passive trees have been

1779s like it's it's the exact same spot it's
1781s been for
1782s since we announced they existed

1789s yeah they'll be out by 1.0 at the latest
1793s and they will not be out in the next
1794s patch
1795s so not the next match and 1.0 with the
1797s latest or somewhere in between the next
1799s match 1.0

1803s that's all the info we got unfortunately
1805s and i understand they're really exciting

1808s so i do not begrudge asking the question

1815s that love lore would too to have a dead

1818s through the entire campaign giving us
1819s commentary in the games lore and how the
1821s game came with it currently with what is

1829s campaign in one shot well definitely not
1831s in one shot but like

1834s we might we might have to like
1835s start part way through the campaign or
1837s something like that or uh break it up
1839s over like like one stream a month for a

1843s have like our lore character in our lore
1844s session that happens

1854s know he's interested in uh
1856s in doing that um we used that it was
1859s really cool when um
1861s back when there was like 10 of us
1863s uh we would and like oh it's like maybe
1866s 20 of us total type thing like early
1868s days of this project um we would have uh
1871s story time
1873s uh ev every
1874s once a week we'd have story time and it
1876s was where laura master would just go
1878s through and
1879s sort of
1880s unveil the storyline that of the game we
1883s were creating because it like wasn't
1884s fully finished and fully fleshed out and
1885s like as he was um designing more of it
1888s and creating more of it and um
1891s we were like
1894s having these like little story sessions
1896s it was really cool it's a ton of fun
1898s um
1899s and
1900s uh yeah like a lot's changed since then
1902s as well in the story um
1904s but we i'm sure i'm sure we could get
1905s them on and there's a lot of store
1907s questions that come up and i'm like i
1908s have no idea
1911s because i'm the worst sort of typical
1914s uh story skipper of all time
1917s um like i know our story really well but
1919s there's lots of little nuance details

1924s i don't know the answer to
1930s i think some people who've
1932s played the storyline
1934s 80 times and picked up on that i would
1936s never have noticed

2026s regions that force us to change this as
2028s well and i don't know what those rules

2034s you'll be able to say like no my default
2036s region's actually this because i always
2038s play with people there and it gets me
2040s better frame rate for some reason

2043s and whenever you join a game you'll join
2045s your default region which you can change

2049s but you can still

2052s party with people that you know from
2054s other regions
2055s and you'll just like if you join the
2056s game you'll jump over to their region
2058s basically whoever's the party leader
2059s will dictate the region
2070s that's the way it works right now

2144s hop in a game with like as you're
2146s leveling um there's like a barbarian and
2148s you give them enchant they're just like
2149s i love you follow me everywhere

2154s i was pretty cool i liked it a lot

2161s so i think i think there was some some
2163s subconscious influence

2171s and it's it's like it's not a rare
2173s concept you know like they've
2175s i could probably riddle off another
2177s dozen games with the same type of
2180s uh character archetype and when you're
2182s looking at mage um mastery classes it's
2185s it's not easy to come up with unique and
2189s interesting play styles for mastery
2191s classes in mage

2193s we actually do have a really great
2194s fourth one uh
2197s that we're hoping to add in at some
2198s point um
2202s so like th there there are them there
2205s it was it's just i think that uh a melee
2208s style mage class is a very natural
2211s extension of the mage class

3240s add a sixth skill slot

3274s but it just takes away from feeling more
3275s like a skill so it's like you have five

3283s thought they just kind of complicated

3300s support skill slot and then it'll be

3304s heavy attack slot and it's it seems to
3307s kind of spiral out of control a little

7050s design i noticed that some have uh
7053s things like a particular particularly
7055s high resist there's some uh seems to be
7058s a lot of design space for even enemies
7060s with similar attack patterns feeling
7061s different how much things like enemy
7063s armor base quick chance etc design
7064s spaces the team just hasn't explored yet
7066s and how much of it is something actively
7068s decided against
7070s for example high armor enemies feelings
7071s you're proceeding for uh hit based
7073s builds uh it's it's tricky yes because
7076s it's
7077s it provides i give you a short version
7080s of this answer i'm sorry it provides a
7082s level of knowledge requirement of the
7084s game to really play optimally that
7087s is
7088s in some cases good but without
7090s explicitly telling people it's a little
7093s it's a little difficult we don't like
7095s for example um every time an enemy has a
7098s special
7099s uh property like high fire resistance it
7102s says it on the card when you mouse over
7103s them like when you get this car that
7104s shows off the top there it says high
7106s fire resistance even if it's like a fire
7107s elemental it'll say high fire resist if
7109s it has
7110s fire resistance you know like um
7113s nothing's implied
7114s and
7116s um
7117s putting too many things up there stuff
7119s can get lost and so sometimes it's more
7121s interesting to have
7123s um
7124s like everything in the zone get these
7126s these bonuses which is why they appear
7128s over on the right usually um and we can
7130s we can put more down here so you there's
7132s less of a like
7134s um
7135s that thing has really high armor and
7136s that thing has really high physical
7138s resistance so i'm going to use a a dot
7141s on that thing and a direct hit on that
7142s thing and like it gets a little too
7144s granular sometimes and you
7146s um like we want to have interesting and
7148s thoughtful combat but we don't want it
7150s to be but we still want to flow and be
7153s intuitive and feel really nice um so
7156s having have and a lot of that has to do
7158s with pacing and so we want to keep
7159s things
7160s um on the faster side of pace but not
7163s frenetic
7164s i think would be the best way to put it
