464s does Ichi plan to limit some
466s interactions for the co-op environment
468s for example with uh

476s for example with minion glitch has
477s access to dead oh um as you were saying
481s uh death seal 300 more million damage
484s but doesn't have access to dread shade
485s from necro another way around with Co-op
488s it seems the minion focused party will
490s be able to use both any thoughts yeah I
492s think this falls into the category of a
494s well-coordinated uh group should be able
498s to be a little bit more effective than
502s um solo players or a well-coordinated
505s group will be more effective than a
507s poorly coordinated group you know like
508s there are in intrinsic synergies for
510s playing together and being able to
512s coordinate your group based on the fact
514s that you're playing together I think
515s it's a
516s um a a good thing to have in the game
519s and and as always if there's anything
521s that's like degenerate combinations
523s causing problems with
525s um
526s overlapping Buffs like that there's a
529s possibility that we may look at
531s um
533s uh combining two Buffs into one so they
534s share a slot for example uh something
536s like that we could do if if this
539s specific situation was very much out of
542s hand one possibility of something we
543s could do is
545s um have that the effect that both of
548s those provide be a specific named buff
551s so turn it into an ailment and give it a
554s specific effect
557s that makes any sense so it's like um
558s like how you can't have two instances of
560s haste at the same time so we can put
562s haste in a lot of places but if haste
564s didn't exist it was all just increased
566s movement speed
567s um then you can stack them up and it
568s would go crazy so what we can do is we
570s can force things not to stack by giving
571s it a specific name so if it if it's
573s going to come down to
575s um
576s testing and is it a problem in in proper
579s applications of it if it's
581s um not crazy over the top uh or not like
585s significantly more powerful than
586s everything else and the obvious right
588s choice you know that sort of thing then
589s yeah it's it's unlikely that we would
591s change it it's also
593s um important to note I think that things
594s that are
596s like good and useful and functional on
599s your own when you're playing solo and
600s then they get even better when you play
602s multiplayer are are probably really good
605s and positive to have so we don't want
606s people to be forced to respect in
608s between
609s so especially one thing that we wouldn't
611s want to do is make it so the
613s um like you have your your multiplayer
615s builds
617s that was
619s um like just completely unplayable
622s literally not as a jokingly completely
624s unplayable but actually completely
626s unplayable solo

629s as like a top top tier uh multiplayer
634s builds character but really awful solo
638s that's the sort of thing that we would
640s like to avoid being ubiquitous so I
643s guess what I mean there is just like
645s um it's fine if that happens sometimes
647s but
649s um because the respect system isn't
651s instant there's a little bit of pressure
653s to have that not happen everywhere that
656s makes any sense
664s I saw a sweet clip of someone using the
668s um uh the mortars to the towers to like
672s kill them with retaliation damage I I
675s thought that was really really really
676s cool they just like go into the echo or
679s the start have pop up all their defenses
681s retaliate kill I thought that was cool I

761s absolute earliest we can get this out

774s are like really anxious and there's just
777s a lot to do still and um I know people
779s are under NBA for the uh for multiplayer
782s testing but if they could talk I'm sure
784s they would say that while it's going
786s with I don't put boards in their mouth I
788s probably shouldn't say this what I think
789s about the multiplayer is that it's going
791s really well but there's a lot of stuff
792s to do still

795s and releasing that would
797s not be a positive uh experience

815s are there going to be some set upgrades
818s since the vast majority is garbage I
821s mean yeah so set items in um if we're
823s talking about like late game builds Peak
825s power options and and Min maxing sort of
828s thing yeah they're they're very rarely
830s used and even in leveling builds they're

835s Niche let's call them
837s um I I would say that there's
839s um some general changes coming to a few
841s of them but there's not sweeping changes
842s that are planned as of yet
846s um we haven't done the major balance
848s pass 4.9 yet as well like we've been
851s doing we've been doing things we've been
852s um
854s going through and making sure that there
856s are we've we've done we've done an audit
859s of every single ability passive item
862s but literally everything that can change
864s the way your character plays in any way
866s we've done an audit of
868s um both in terms of bugs uh wordings
872s um everything so this is like
875s um all sorts of stuff that are just
877s getting fixed and in some cases that's
879s gonna improve things
880s um as far as power goes because you know
882s there's like a bug that no one noticed
883s because you can't really tell that it's
884s happening or not

886s there's quite a few of those actually
888s and uh yeah
892s set items uh fell under that but also we
896s haven't done the balance pass yet
897s because not all the systems are
899s implemented So like
900s um dungeons aren't implemented yet in
902s multiplayer uh not not fully and they
904s are uh hopefully right around the corner

911s they're like
912s they're pretty close they're very close
914s and um so like we don't even know how
917s multiplayer balance in dungeons
919s is at all yet because like maybe there's
922s some set that's unbelievable in
923s multiplayer dungeons we just don't know
924s about it yet there's not but like
927s um until even the features are
928s implemented for multiplayer it's hard to
930s even look at it from an overall balance
933s perspective we can look at it from a
934s single Cloud balance perspective but not
936s both simultaneously so we need to have
937s the features before we can balance them

965s out in your internal testing
966s um so it depends there's different like
968s levels of internal testing I want to say

972s like there's there's if you're in in the

978s extremely frequently like multiple times
981s a day technically I guess you could call

983s um we do also have a nightly build
986s environments uh that QA Works in and
988s then we have a

993s like our CT patch environment
997s um that's usually every couple weeks I
999s think right now
1001s um and then we do hot fixes in there too
1002s that are more frequently
1004s um
1006s but they're very they're very they're
1008s they're not really like full patch
1009s releases they're very haphazard by
1011s comparison to our full patches

1016s I guess it might be the wrong word
1017s streamlined
1022s there's less price like we we take less
1025s time and Care making sure that the build
1027s releases that are going out to CTS
1029s um and even less so as you come further
1031s down that list are completely bug free
1033s and solid like uh so we spend less time
1036s testing going over them but we do a full
1037s major patch release like 4.9
1040s um
1040s there will probably be a couple weeks
1043s between when we when we lock the code
1045s base and release when we're just doing
1047s like testing and minor bug fixing only
1068s yeah oh did you come to a conclusion
1072s with mass market system I remember that
1074s you have told that you wanted a bizarre
1076s system but that was decline yeah a long
1078s time ago we were not a lot a while ago
1080s we were
1081s um proposing a bizarre style system that
1084s we have since scrapped based on
1087s um for the discussions we had uh looking
1089s at other games that use systems related
1092s to it um Community feedback General
1094s testing like just just things that we've
1097s we looked we looked into it more and
1098s more and more and realized that it
1100s wasn't a great
1101s wasn't what we were going for I think it
1104s could have worked really well for
1106s um for a game it would have just changed
1107s how the game played and it wasn't what
1109s we were
1110s aiming for really
1113s um as far as like a mass market system
1118s um I I it's kind of hard to describe
1121s what that is and and details about what
1123s trade's gonna be so there's no details
1124s about what trade I can give you right
1125s now the only thing I will say is the
1126s same thing I've said before which is
1128s um if the goal that you're hoping for of
1131s the the play style you're hoping for is
1132s to be able to play the market
1135s um and have it be a
1137s a primary function that you're doing is
1140s playing the market and like you'll uh
1143s you you probably won't have a great time
1146s in our trade system if that's your goal
1148s like if you're like oh I want to just
1150s log on and and just do some trading for
1152s for a few hours and nothing else
1155s you're gonna have a really tough time
1156s doing that
1163s or uh primary gameplay
1166s that we're focusing on is this right
1168s here is going out and killing monsters
1171s um that's that that's that's unchanged
1173s so no that's new information
1177s at least I hope it's not it shouldn't be
1184s so crazy how slow that is that that warp
1187s there as soon as the the
1188s um Echo ends in multiplayer is so fast
1192s and I love it like you can get through
1194s the portal before the portals even
1196s visually on screen
1199s it's great
1202s of the many skills that have been called
1205s did you ever have to call a personal
1207s favorite thematically
1210s um
1213s no
1221s I'm trying to think like there's
1222s different levels of Cults like sometimes
1223s there's there's some that have like come
1225s close that have never actually seen the
1226s light of day that we've called
1229s um
1232s uh and so some of those were pretty
1234s great
1235s um but yeah I know there's nothing
1236s that's that was ever like uh oh I really
1240s really want this that was in the game
1242s and uh
1245s I had to get pulled out like there's not
1247s a lot of skills in that category really
1248s there was there's um fire Aura which got
1250s converted to a triggered ability
1253s um
1256s there's Boreal Wrath
1259s that's a deep cut if anyone remembers
1261s that
1262s glad you played the kickstarter build
1264s um which was a primal stability that's
1266s that's basically just in place Fury leap
1270s um
1274s like it's fearly but you don't move
1276s it was kind of cool
1279s um
1282s uh Thicket blades that was another
1284s Primal stability
1286s um
1287s it basically just sets up an AOE
1289s retaliation on you like a like a stance
1291s or a stance
1293s um
1296s trying to think of other abilities have
1298s been cut
1299s uh healing wind another Primal stability
1301s got moved on to the activated ability
1303s for spriggan summon spriggan's activated
1306s ability
1307s and a lot of Primal stabilities got cut
1311s it's the older classes really
1317s does anyone else oh the stances yes
1319s thank you guys don't say does anyone
1320s else know of an ability got cut
1323s um I did I did enjoy the stances
1325s um I think it's a cool play style and
1327s I'd still like to see something
1329s um like a stance dance ability get made
1332s somehow I'm not sure the best way to do
1334s it so that it's fun
1336s um one of my one of my friends played a
1338s lot of Udyr in League of Legends
1341s um and several versions of uh of stance
1344s abilities that we looked at were um
1348s tried to kind of emulate that gameplay
1351s style a little bit
1354s um and you can kind of get close to it
1356s actually with with the transform system
1358s because you can go from form to form a
1360s little bit
1361s um so you can kind of get a little bit
1362s like a little bit a little bit of that
1363s feeling here and there
1367s what else what other abilities do people
1369s remember that were cut
1376s let's go boot up let's go boot up an old
1378s builds let's go build a bit of 0.45 and
1380s see what's there
1384s gross
1394s I want to say ice storms but it keeps
1395s finding its way back in the game yeah I
1397s don't it's it is a uh
1399s uh it's like the Cockroach of abilities
1403s it just keeps
1404s time and somehow who knows how
1420s foreign
1422s yeah it's it's funny there's sometimes
1425s there are
1427s um abilities to get pitched or just
1428s abilities that make it into the game we
1430s don't even notice where like
1432s um you can just like build a law
1435s character sometimes and you're like
1437s whoops
1440s um
1441s we're we we recently
1446s I mean we're still in the prototyping
1448s stage for it but one of the abilities
1449s that we're
1451s that we we're not even not even not even
1453s into prototyping it we're still in like
1454s early design stages with with warlock
1456s but one of the abilities in there has
1460s um someone pointed out that you're like
1461s this is a reskinned ability of so-and-so
1463s in law and we're like oh my God it is
1466s how did that happen
1471s see it happens sometimes
1476s sometimes it just comes from like you
1478s played a lot of this other game for a
1480s long time and when you design an ability
1482s it like just
1484s it's just like oh I've had fun doing
1486s something somewhere playing this style I
1489s want to make that style happen again
1492s it just kind of happens by mistake
1493s sometimes it's pretty cool
1498s I don't know that's T1 or ti do I watch
1500s I don't know what that is do I watch TI
1502s or T1
1504s TL
1505s this is how little I watch it I don't
1508s know what that is

1527s a month ago 250 hours that's a lot of
1531s time playing that's a lot of time I'm
1532s glad you're having fun
1542s we're doing pretty great here with with
1544s uh damage I think we could even bump up
1546s to a higher difficulty or we could
1547s probably go to empowered

1554s I'm quite happy with how this build's
1556s progressing I don't have none of my
1558s uniques have legendary potential on them
1560s so I'm really hoping to find LP versions
1562s of some of these I guess I could go over
1564s the changes that were made we're still
1566s pretty similar you it may look basically
1568s like the same stuff's happening
1570s um as last week but like a fair bit of
1572s change has happened I can go through it

1577s we jumped up in level two
1581s I I dropped below 300 Mana
1584s I've got a an idol that that activates
1587s on 300 random or more and I just
1590s realized right as we went live I'm like
1591s oh God I'm below 300 Mana ah

1601s are the plans to add an item by type
1604s uh which will buff monsters like
1606s Headhunter in Poe
1608s no
1609s we're not making headhunter
1613s um
1614s Headhunter has
1617s um there's
1619s several abilities in last Epoch monster
1623s abilities that we would have to remove
1625s from the game in order to have
1626s Headhunter be viable to the point where
1628s we would dilute the number of abilities
1630s so much
1633s um that we we would so there's like huge
1636s subset of people that would suffer
1637s because they're
1639s um
1640s just just by this one item existing so
1642s even people that don't have it don't use
1643s it they'd have a worse experience or you
1646s have to have it be like the things that
1648s it can be affected it can affect are so
1650s limited that it's just kind of like well
1653s sometimes a couple of things get
1656s transferred over and you're like nah it
1658s sucks
1660s and just like
1661s it's it's like oh it's close to this
1663s other thing that I love but it's
1664s significantly worse
1667s um so if you're gonna invite comparisons
1668s like that intentionally you want to make
1671s sure you're on the right side of that
1672s comparison
1673s um and if you know you're going to be
1674s really on the wrong side of that
1676s comparison it's generally not a great
1677s idea
1683s not always you know sometimes it's good
1685s but
1686s we try and avoid it if we're like this
1688s is this other thing from this other game
1690s but just worse in every way
1693s not huge on the idea
1706s hmm it's too bad to use something
1709s similar but it's already implemented in
1710s other games it fits uh is it too bad to
1713s use something similar what is already
1716s influenced in other games if it fits and
1718s is very fun to players no it's not bad
1721s um it's it's it's totally fine it's
1723s actually good in a lot of cases because
1725s what you can do is you can
1727s um people can see things that they're
1729s familiar with in some cases so like uh
1731s Warpath and Whirlwind and cyclone and
1734s all these abilities all these like uh
1736s and Garen and law like all these Spin to
1739s Win characters and abilities are very
1741s familiar they're things that people
1742s played in lots of different games people
1744s really enjoy them and and having those
1747s uh available is is great
1750s um
1752s because there are things that people uh
1754s like especially genre tropes like I
1756s think that's a big genre Trope really
1757s and
1759s um
1760s and and putting your own spin on
1762s putting your own spin on a genre Trope
1764s like that I think is a very very useful
1767s way to um
1769s to to provide people a way to have fun
1772s which is really what it's all about
1775s um
1777s see lots of times it's great but if I
1779s think there's if you can't put your own
1781s spin on it so if the only way to do it
1783s is to like directly copy someone else
1786s careful
1788s if the only way to do it is strictly
1791s worse than someone else especially if
1793s they're one of the most popular
1795s um
1796s uh versions of that something else
1799s and these are all these are Case by case
1802s so I'm like trying to speak very
1803s generally because there's not really a
1804s hard fast rule for any of it
1814s uh imagine stealing Revival before dying
1819s in hardcore that would be insane
1821s stealing Revival oh like the uh yeah
1824s yeah
1827s that that would be a little nuts oh like
1830s that would be an amazing moment that
1832s would be great that'd be that would be
1833s so cool and everything but like it's
1836s it's tough to uh
1839s it's so hard to balance
1842s and like we we we don't like to say you
1844s know this will never happen that'll
1846s never happen
1849s um but Headhunters one that
1853s chances that would happen are extremely
1856s low at best
1858s super duper Mega extremely low at this
1861s before I'm confident just saying no
1863s um
1866s so many problems with it like we've
1868s looked at it we're this is this is not
1870s something that we're like we've just
1871s considered it and been like oh you know
1874s don't copy whatever move on though like
1876s we've
1877s we've really looked at doing it
1880s um there are many problems
1886s is not for lack of trying
1897s I love when a fireball like
1899s um the heat seeking this pulls it up
1901s towards the screen and then it loses the
1903s heatsinkiness because the target dies so
1904s it just starts going straight forward
1905s and it like flies in front of the screen
1907s I love that
1915s will Ellie ever get more density in the
1918s game my biggest issue with it is I felt
1919s like a walk to kill 10 mobs there's yeah
1921s so there's
1923s um a couple bugs actually that still
1924s exist in the live version that cause
1927s um some of these density gaps to happen
1928s that we have fixed for next batch
1931s um we we did also air on the side of
1932s caution with density in general due to
1935s Performance concerns that are being
1937s mostly alleviated so we should see a
1939s little bit of an increase there not
1940s dramatic we don't want to have
1943s um we we would we would rather see
1947s um
1947s like if we're going to directly compare
1949s to Path of Exile we would we would
1951s rather intentionally see
1953s fewer enemies on screen
1957s um just having having it be a little
1959s more intentional and maybe that means
1961s making those enemies a little bit more
1962s dangerous if it's a difficulty thing but
1964s just seeing fewer enemies on screen is
1966s like regardless of any constraints the
1968s design we're hoping for
1971s and that's not to say every single
1973s situation is always going to not yeah
1976s broad stroke speaking speaking
1978s um maybe there will be some
1981s I don't know some area that we make
1983s where it's just like enemies enemies as
1986s far as the eye can see yeah you know
1988s like that sort of thing can happen and
1990s having a big variants on that I think is
1992s is interesting it makes a it makes where
1995s you are like having to make decisions
1997s based on the encounter you're in having
1999s variants like having different dials you
2001s can move is good for that
2004s what haven't you copied yet that you
2006s really want to copy from other games
2009s I mean we we really try to avoid copying
2014s anything we also try to avoid avoiding
2017s copying anything like we just try and it
2019s sounds dumb to say we try to just ignore
2021s other games as much as possible if we
2023s can
2024s um and and just like just make our games
2027s and sometimes things from other games
2029s like games you play games you haven't
2032s played in a decade influence the the
2034s decisions you make when designing a game
2036s games you have no recollection of uh
2039s playing uh or like they'll find their
2042s way in in little ways
2045s um and
2047s so we generally just try and look at it
2049s from uh like what if like what do you
2051s think would be cool that sort of stuff
2053s and some sometimes you get something
2054s that does overlap
2056s um
2058s so there's nothing that's on the list of
2060s like though I really want to copy that
2064s I don't think

2112s improve everything if there's
2114s uh significant feedback that we get on
2117s our feedback forums and uh channels that
2119s are that it needs reworking I'm sure
2121s I'll get looked at eventually I don't
2123s think there's I don't know if there's

2571s actually be a very large source of both
2574s damage and defense
2577s um stunning an enemy inside of an Airy
2580s effect so they can't get out
2583s um so it takes way more damage
2585s um this is this is quite often seen in
2588s in like pre-intuitive combos like
2591s um black hole meteor you know you like
2593s so like hold on to draw them in and then
2595s the meteor drops on them and all big
2596s damage all that sort of stuff and
2597s there's even nodes in there in those
2598s trees to like help with that
2602s um
2604s in the
2607s uh
2609s uh it's also defensive in the sense that
2611s oh this enemy is about to wind up and
2613s use this big ability it's not at stuffy
2614s ability so it's a very powerful effect
2617s um and abuse cases for
2621s um being able to Perma Sun things is
2624s scary
2626s because
2627s um sometimes Perma stun cases happen
2629s when you can like just especially in a
2632s group in value complete boss fights but
2635s sometimes taking permastun
2638s um
2639s abilities just drops your damage into
2642s the abyss and you end up with like wet
2646s noodle fights and you just like okay
2647s well this boss can't move for the next
2650s four hours and I'm gonna do one damage a
2653s second to it
2654s it has 10 million hit points you know
2658s it's just like okay this fight's gonna
2660s be hours long or whatever the math works
2662s out to be and it's it's not fun being
2665s stuck there especially if it's the
2669s um most effective way for new builds
2672s it's quite it's quite often ends up
2673s being a very effective way for new
2674s builds to complete extremely difficult
2676s content so you don't have a lot of
2678s wealth you know your character's not
2679s very strong you you know gear don't do
2680s it but you can pull off this permiston
2682s system and you're just gonna promise on
2684s this boss until it's dead it'll take
2686s three hours and it's gonna suck so
2688s avoiding situations like that's really
2690s important

2976s things they synergize with that you're
2977s going to see different versions of those
2982s um so Ward on an AC light might be more
2984s tied to a low life build it might be
2986s tied to to minions more so whereas
2989s um Ward on a mage might be tied more to
2992s um your Mana you know and and how that's
2995s used so there's there's lots of
2997s um
2998s reusing mechanics in different ways to
3001s get new experiences in new combinations
3003s I think that's really good
3006s um is there room for more yeah there's
3007s room for more is it necessary I don't
3010s think so

4634s that thing that I just did was important

4639s think that can help to reinforce things

4643s um and there's lots of ways you can do
4644s that so like you can have like
4646s reinforcing uh like chapter completions
4648s this is a chapter one that's funny
4651s um most people have no idea what chapter
4652s their character is in for the most part
4653s and and part of the problem with that is
4655s that there's nothing that really says
4656s like hey you completed a chapter good
4659s job
4660s um and that can come in a lot of
4661s different
4662s um different different forms so like uh
4664s a small cutscene I think is
4667s something we're going to do and
4668s something that is definitely missing
4670s and then we'll be the biggest impact
4672s there but even something little like you
4674s did kill a big boss and it's like
4676s completed chapter four something not
4679s something or other it's like oh that was
4681s a really big moment of story progression
4683s and like it just helps reinforce those
4685s ideas and there's there's other things
4687s too you can do like

4689s uh like like Chase achievements things
4692s that are like

4695s completes
4696s uh like I don't know B in the top 100 on
4701s this ladder when it closes or something

5183s very intentionally for balance reasons

5191s there's there's kind of two ways to have
5192s cooldowns interact with those one
5194s generically so just having increased
5196s cooldown reduction work with them and
5197s and if it does generically work it would
5199s have to work with all of them so as soon
5201s as we make increased cooldown recovery

5205s um some anything that we had the
5207s cooldown set for a very specific balance
5209s reason
5210s um suddenly we have to take the cool
5213s down and increase it by enough so the
5215s maximum possible cooldown reduction you
5217s could ever have in the game lines up
5219s with that value and suddenly everyone
5220s who's not stacking cooldown reduction to
5222s the absolute Max is kind of Sol so
5226s that's not a great solution uh second
5229s option for including it including some
5231s way to scale that cooldown is to have
5233s really targeted
5235s um cooldown scaling
5238s um and and what happens there is if you
5240s have one item that produces this effect
5242s and one other item that changes the
5244s cooldown of that effect suddenly this
5246s other item is kind of useless without
5248s the first one
5249s um so you could you could do it in a set
5252s that can work

5256s but there's not really a lot of great
5257s ways to do it in uh like generic sensor
5260s just with a unique that already exists

5263s um so I'd say chances are low for either
5266s of those options that you put there but

6940s the CC build this every single one of
6941s them has missing textures in it

6947s attention to detail level that we put
