In today's patch (14.04) Rek'Sai was adjusted. After the patch went live, the Rek'Sai mains community has quickly discovered some glaring issues that I would like to bring attention to, in the hopes that others can be made aware of these problems.

First of all, what's broken and why am I making this post?

1. Rek'Sai Q can now be cancelled

Rek'Sai Q has been reworked to no longer work as a spell, but instead as an auto-attack. This classifies it as an "enhanced auto-attack", which would usually lock you in once the auto-attack is started, meaning it cannot be canceled. For this patch however, Rek'Sai Q has been modified to not lock you in, making it possible to cancel you auto-attack.

This may not seem like much of an issue at first, but it quickly becomes very obvious that any half-decent Rek'Sai combo will now result in cancelling your own Q. Using E, R or any active item like Stridebreaker will now result in your Q enhanced auto-attack simply being cancelled.

-> this is an intended change. But unlike described, the result is that you are now forced to play slow or simply lose your auto attacks.

This means that especially more experienced players now face the issue that all the acquired skill and combos are useless, as you are forced to play as slow as possible. Kiting has become near impossible to execute at a high level.

2. The tunnel bug has not been fixed

As can be seen here: https://imgur.com/a/u0YfmQB the tunnel bug has not been fixed, in contrary to the descriptions provided by Riot.

3. Item fixes from PBE were reverted

Before patch 14.04, the following items did not work properly on Rek'Sai: Sundered Sky, Shojin, Hullbreaker. All 3 were fixed on PBE, but the current live version of the game only contains a fix for Sundered Sky, meaning the fixes were either reverted or got lost unintentionally. As Shojin has high potential on Bruiser Rek'Sai, this is very sad to see.

4. Skins are bugged

From community reports we have gathered that some skins now have exceptionally long delays on their Q animation. This seems to be especially true for Everfrost Rek'Sai, where the Q has a very visible delay between animation and damage when compared to other skins.

Like I said, I hope that this post can gain some visibility, as Rek'Sai usually gets very little attention. Especially bug nr. 1 results in a very horrid playstyle that does not feel intentional at all. Multiple Challenger OTPs have spoken out inside the community and also hope that this can be addressed soon.

As seen in the above mentioned video, Riot is considering not fixing Nr. 1 at all, as there are other priorities. I hope I can shine some light on the fact that this is a very important problem for Rek'Sai and that maybe the priorities should be slightly reconsidered.

Thanks for the post. I'll try to spend the next two days improving these things plus anything else people have from this thread.

  1. Is a temporary measure to fix a much worse bug around her R going on cooldown doing nothing. I'll fix that up, but it's pretty involved.

  2. Should be improved compared to before but clearly isn't great. I'll take a look at the script to see if there's something obvious, but we may be stuck with "slightly better than before" if I can't find anything obvious. Ideally the script is sending the exact same location for tunnel exit and dash destination but I can try to find a way to make this work harmoniously. I have theories.

  3. Spear of Shojin underwent some changes under the hood (I think unintentionally) this patch. This may not be Rek'Sai specific, I'm not sure.

  4. That's troubling. I'll take a look.
