So I was watching the highlights on youtube and noticed that tactical would often be the first to die in a teamfight. So I started noting them down.

Depending on how favourably/unfavourbly you would want to look it I found that in 75%/66% of the teamfights in which Tactical died, he was the first to die of his team. On it's own this doesn't say a lot, because maybe Tactical just never dies in teamfights. But, lets take a look at the moments in game.

Here are the moments where Tactical died in a teamfight:

  • Game 1, 25:55, Tactical dies first

  • Game 1, 45:40, Tactical dies first

  • Game 2, 19:20, Tactical dies first

  • Game 2, 30:10, Tactical dies first

  • Game 2, 35:20, Tactical dies first

  • Game 3, 20:15, Tactical dies first (debatable situation)

  • Game 3, 30:25, Tactical dies but not first

  • Game 3, 32:50, Tactical dies but not first

  • Game 4, 20:55, Tactical dies first

  • Game 5, 31:50, Tactical dies but not first

  • Game 5, 34:00, Tactical dies first (but more like a pick)

  • Game 5, 42:00, Tactical dies first (A forced 3v5 by EG)

So depending on your interpetation of the data. In 9/12 or 6/9 teamfights in which tactical dies, he dies first. I think this reflects Tactical's playstyle of always playing as far forward as you can. Either you can kill him, or he rolls over on you in a teamfight. It's a different playstyle than the traditional ADC, who sit back try to clean up the fight after all major cooldowns are used. However, I believe that in this series his playstyle did not work out. Instead of playing on the boundary, he overstepped it.

Getting caught out isnt a different play style.. it's just bad positioning. Good adcs know when they can play forward and dont get caught out first every team fight. It's not a play style difference, it's a skill difference.

While I agree with the oversimplification that getting caught is not a playstyle, neither is doing nothing.

Indeed a good ADC knows when to play forward and when to not get caught. But it's also a LOT easier for the peanut gallery (myself included) to notice someone playing too far up versus someone doing nothing to win the game.

We've all seen those zero kills and 20 minute games, mostly in pro. Is that really everyone playing perfectly or have 12 kills been passed up because players were too scared of "getting caught out"?
