Playing Twisted Fate makes me feel clever.

Leveling TF isn't as easy as it used to be, which means I'm less likely to try and force a turbo-level strategy. The natural result is that I'm now incentivized to protect TF, and play a little game of chicken with my opponent; you see, a skillful opponent wants me to waste time getting progress towards TF's level up before they remove him, making it harder for me to level the next TF. So they're guessing at how long they can hold out. If it safe to spend under removal to develop when I'm at 4/9? 5/9? If I spend down to 1 mana, are they still safe to spend under removal when I'm at 6/9 (nice)? This is fun for me -- and, ideally, fun for my opponent, too.

However, the real fun begins after he's leveled. I always plan a few moves ahead (or several moves ahead, if my opponent is skilled and the sweat of our game dehydrates my smooth brain enough to form the facsimile of a wrinkle), but now my cards aren't just what's printed on them, anymore. My cards are potential Blue, Red, and Gold cards, and I have to think about them in a way I otherwise wouldn't. This is immense fun -- especially when I confess that I lied to you, and I've been thinking about them as future Blue, Red, and Gold cards all along! That's right, while I'm trying to level TF I'm also trying to make sure I have the resources to take advantage of his level up after the fact! IT WAS ME, DIO!

Even if you're not looking to level TF, he offers a suite of powerful effects at a reasonable cost while making fantastic removal bait, and has some of the best voice lines in the game. A fantastic card that can slot into a variety of decks without taking those decks over.

I have, perhaps, only two complaints regarding my boy Tobias.

First, that his level 2 form doesn't give access to a Destiny Card on play. Champs losing functionality when they level up generally feels bad (Elise is the one example I've seen where this doesn't feel bad at all, since she effective changes into a different champ on level up). I've seen it suggested that he be given this functionality back, but in exchange said Card is removed from the pool for that round. I'd take it a step further and say that his cycle of Destiny Cards for the round would start at the card you picked; for example, if I drop level 2 TF and choose Gold card, the next card I play will proc Blue card, and the next after will proc Red card (and the next after will proc nothing, because I've already cast Gold card this round). That would definitely stimulate the feeling of ridges and furrows marring my pristine smoothness.

Second, the abysmal dearth of cosmetics for him. I desperately need at least 5 more TF emotes, two card backs, a board, and a little Graves guardian to poke while my opponent sweats over a six-deep stack of removal and Destiny Cards played in response to their Aftershock. Rito, please.
