I know lots of you come from other card games so I though I might ask what other card games have fun PvE.

I have honestly had it with LOR, playing 50 minutes to complete a mission in POC just to lose because the AI has the most insane cheats, legit nothing you can do to win sometimes. Not to mention how frustrating it is to see the AI use the EXACT cards ( Not even from their regions ) that counters your champion/deck you chose. And after all that struggle, you get barely enough XP to level 1 time with your chosen champion, meaning if you retry the same mission, you will get the same result because there was no progression or benefit from the previous run. I want to have fun, not be frustrated,

I am not asking to win without any challenge, but this isn't challenging, you lose, end of story. I have never in my life been so frustrated by a game like this one. Losing is fine, in fact, its great because then you learn, but this is the first game that makes losing extra frustrating and I am a MOBA and First person shooter player so I know how to deal with losing. But at least in those games you actually stand a chance in every single game. In LOR you either steamroll the AI into oblivion or the AI steamrolls you into oblivion, neither are fun. So you get 1) not challenging at all 2) You lose after trying your best for an hour straight. Great game design.

I will never spend a dime on a game that goes out of its way to annoy me. I find it amazing that the game is programmed to NOT give you your strongest cards. I probably had 8 copies of Gwen in my deck because you get an extra copy every time you choose a power/item for them, yet out of 20 cards in the final battle I didn't get my strongest hero ONCE. Yet the AI has summoned Galio and Malphite twice in 3 rounds even though the AI only had 8 mana at that point.

This is a joke to even read and that was ONE mission. Riot might as well give the final boss a cheat that goes "Round Start: Your nexus takes 50 damage" Would make things a lot easier actually.

Sorry for the rant, hope some of you agree and if you don't and you enjoy LOR I am so happy for you, we all need a game we love.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've heard that hearthstone is good but its pay to win apparently? Magic the gathering is something I've never tried, its apparently a lot more complex than LOR. I am honestly a PVE player so any PVP focused card games are out of the window for me. If LOR is the only game that does PVE then I guess I have to ditch this game genre then sadly.

Sad to hear this, but if you’re looking for some other cool cardgames with PvE / steamforged quest is a cool jrpg approach to the genre. monster train, roguebook, and slay the spire are all pretty fun. Faeria has a robust pve campaign but is more unique in gameplay.

And i still struggle to find another game that combines very good and refined card mechanics with grid based combat and positioning.

We even have a thread on Faeria steam boards dedicated to this. There are some games with these combination of features, but nothing comes even close to the brilliance of Faeria and its design (you may feel flattered here lol ;P).

Not sure how the (no sorry) got in there, lol. I was typing this in my phone. I might have been talking about how it’s not a roguelike progression.

I’d like to read that thread. Love working on LoR and faeria has a fond place in my heart. :)

Faeria worked hard to make the board play truly matter, rather than being a cardgame that also had a board. The board strategy complemented the cards. I think that’s why it feels so well connected.
