Hi everyone!
This is a hard message to share, but I think it’s important to share the news directly with you all. Over the summer, I decided to swap to a position on a R&D project. We have an amazing community and we are all making this game together. It’s in the spirit of our collaboration that I want to share some thoughts with you all and be available to answer your questions.
My journey on LOR started on February 22, 2017 and my last day on the team was July 2, 2021. My role on the team and my focus of work shifted a few times, but most of you know me for my contributions for card content on:
- Rising Tides
- Call of the Mountain
- Monuments of Power
- K/DA All Out
- Cosmic Creation
- Aphelios Champion Expansion
- Empires of the Ascended
- Guardians of the Ancient
- Rise of the Underworlds
- Sentinels of Light Champion Expansion
- Beyond the Bandlewood
- The Path of Champions
- Live Balance Updates
My favorite aspect about working on LOR is the people. The people I worked with on LOR are the most amazing group of humans I have ever worked alongside. Everyone is so passionate and wants to make the best game we can. Everyone supports each other and helps each other learn and grow. We fail together and succeed together. The single hardest part about deciding to leave the team was leaving the humans.
My second favorite part about working on LOR was the community - you all. I have always said that we are making this game together. The level of camaraderie, positivity, passion, and support you all have for LOR inspires me and the rest of the team to work as hard as possible to make the best game we can.
Watching the game grow and evolve from outside of the team has been incredible. I’m experiencing the game from a new perspective - a shared perspective with you all. I am so excited for future releases and to experience the game with a fresh perspective. The team is doing a phenomenal job and I can’t wait to see the amazing things to come!
Someone I admire very much once told me, “shipping a game is one of the hardest things to attempt and that doesn’t even consider trying to make the game great.” We did make a great game and it’s getting better every day. The team is incredibly talented and we have a great community. I think LOR is getting better every day and the best version of the game is yet to come.
Because making a game is hard and because I’ve seen so many unanswered questions from you all during my time on LOR, I thought it would be a fun idea to do an AMA for you all.
But there are some rules ;)
- I’ll wait a few hours after this message to go through questions and answer the most upvoted questions.
- I can’t answer any questions about current or future LOR development, because I’m not on the team and don’t know the answers.
- Please be positive and bring good vibes to the AMA.
- I can’t answer anything that Riot would consider a secret.
- I’m happy to answer any question I can about my experience in games, my experience on LOR, my experience at Riot, my perspective on the game industry, or game development in general.
I am excited to see your questions and I will try my best to answer all that I can as thoroughly as I can.
My time on LOR and with you all has been one of the brightest highlights of my career. Your kind words inspired me. Your critical words pushed me to do better. Your jokes and memes made me laugh every day. I will still be actively involved in our community, but not as a LOR developer. I will be involved as a fan of the game, a fan of the team, and a fan of you all.
