I think if you're seeing "system is down for maintenance," try closing out the game and booting it back up. Let me know if that works.

Hey [[58194,users]] ; @Nimbostratus[[73641,hashtags]] and I figured out that the problem is a DNS issue, and posted a work-around. I think we both deserve job offers from WoTC. I happen to be seeking employment.
Deleting things/work arounds aren't fixes and cause problems later usually. Feel free to apply though?
PSA: Workarounds and deleting things is NOT a solution. This may cause problems later.

I understand that a work-around is not a permanent solution, however, I don't have the credentials to log into your DNS provider account or hosted DNS server and fix the issue.. If I did, I would go and make sure whoever is hosting your DNS records has the correct value, and then update the community that the issue is, in fact, a DNS propogation problem.
It looks like virtually NO DNS servers have the right value, so I'm guessing someone needs to fix the value through your DNS provider.

ok, in fairness, I do want to mention (as others have) that once things are back up & going, you'll want to REMOVE that line you added from your hosts file using the same steps.
Another thing that could be going on is that the regional "east" server is down, and that IP address (40.84.40.16) could belong to a different regional server that is up. so everybody pointing to it may end up being a very bad thing (tm). Please remember to un-do that work-around when given the all-clear.
OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL. People are already seeing problems after doing this.

It might be. It could also be because you did the workaround. Contact support.
So if your codes or purchases redeem successfully, and you don’t get your items right away, don’t panic. It’s probably a delay due to the game being slammed with the same request. Things bottleneck.
If you submitted a ticket with support and don’t get a response right away, understand that submitting a ticket puts you into a queue. They answer by order received and they are SLAMMED with tickets right now. Our team is only so big and they’re going through things as fast as they can. If you’re trying to talk to customer support at a store you still have to wait in line when they’re busy! Same concept... Except for their line has wayyyyyy more people and they all showed up at once haha.
PLEASE do not send more than one ticket. PLEASE do not harass them. PLEASE do not go on an insulting spree. Wait your turn like everyone else and pay attention to your inbox for them to reply. If you don’t get a response in a couple of days, reply to the original email. If you do get a response from the system asking if your problem was resolved, and it hasn’t been, respond to that email. Make sure to check your spam folder. DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER TICKET JUST BECAUSE YOU DID NOT GET AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE.

What is the context? Did you try to start your game but it wouldn't update? If so, you need to contact support.
