The challenge with forum responses is they often get lost in the mix quickly. I think they are valuable and we need to have a constant presence here, but I think building out a quality bug/issue tracker that is kept current and addressing top issues through dev blogs will be more impactful. We are aware of this feedback on communication and I agree there is a lot of room to improve, we are taking your feedback to heart and will work to do better.

I know it may feel that way, but everyone on the NW team cares about being more communicative, and building those predictable and reliable ways to keep our community informed and involved.

I have been extra active the last few days, but there are lots of other folks who participate in the forums. We have a volume of issues and a lot of time an energy goes into addressing them. But Trevzor and Lux are always working super hard to support players sometimes that work is visible and sometimes it is internally.

I would assume folks wouldn’t bother creating game forum accounts and posting here if they didn’t like New World or see that it has a lot of potential.

That wasn’t a snide remark, I was being sincere. I really do believe folks are here providing feedback, positive or negative with the goal of improving the game because they like it or see its potential.

Most often, the answer we have is:

  • the team is aware of an issue, or not and we need more information
  • we are actively working on a solution
  • when we have a fix tested and ready to ship we’ll communicate the details and timing

Sincere question, what additional information would be helpful? Is it a deeper explanation of the issues that would be helpful?

Ok, sharing priority is good feedback. We can definitely provide that.
Yes, I am super passionate about getting a great public bug tracker stood up.

Currently there is a persistence bug the team is working to solve that is preventing us from shipping character transfers. Our goal is to resolve and ship the fix asap, it is very high priority for the team.

We have different folks dedicated to supporting different channels. My guess is the volume of responses is higher on the forums, including the News section of updates but it is much harder to see the responses.

No, can you help me understand what I said to draw that conclusion?

Ah, I understand the confusion. We do have folks dedicated to the forums specifically. But also the entire team regularly reads the forums.

I think mainly I want folks to hear that I am also not satisfied and agree communication needs to improve and I’ll be working hard with the team to make improvements this week.

Thanks for the kind words! Very appreciated.

Haha, I think you are wise to call out that we have to frame expectations.
I think being predictable and consistent in how and where we communicate will prevent folks from expecting me to be aware of an involved in all threads.
I am working with Trevzor and Lux on establishing communication mechanisms that work at scale and can be regular ways to stay updated.

The bugs with War, specifically the Ice Gauntlet lag and invulnerability exploits are a top priority for the team, we have fixes for them and are finishing testing.

The server transfer is also a top priority for us, we are working to get the persistence issue resolved and reactivate transfers as soon as possible. Hopefully it is a matter of days, not weeks, before they are made available again.

We are working toward a weekly patch, once we have a confirmed release window we’ll post an announcement.
