[2022] [Notice] Duplication Bug / Wealth Transfers - March 3

Hi everyone,

We are aware of a bug that duplicates items and is currently being taken advantage of across various servers. While we work on a fix, we are disabling all forms of wealth transfers temporarily.

We are actively monitoring and can detect players using this exploit, and are taking action against them. As a reminder, any player taking advantage of this exploit will be penalised for violating our Code of Conduct.

We will provide an update when we have additional information.

Update:
Our team is working to address the root cause of the duplication issue. When we know more about the release timing for that fix as well as when we can reactivate wealth transfer, we will be sure to let you know!

We are also in the process of suspending or banning players who engaged in the use of this exploit, depending on the severity of use, and removing all items they posted in the trading post to further minimize the impact of this bug on world economies.

This is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Exploits suck. We are continuing our efforts toward strengthening test procedures and planning, and invite you all to our current Public Test Realm (PTR) to help us break that build before it goes live.

Final update:
With the release of the patch tonight, the Duplication bug has been resolved and Wealth Transfers have been reenabled, including the Trading Post.

Hi all,

The team continues to work on removing duped items from individual characters. Players have been, and additional players identified through this investigation will be, suspended until we remove items that we feel would have a severe impact on the economy.

These players will see a 7 day suspension; for those already suspended, this is an extension on their current suspension. We will continue to extend the suspension until the identified items have been removed from their characters.

This does not apply to players who were permanently banned as a result of utilizing this exploit.

We have removed a substantial number of duplicated items from the game. Some of the high value items the team removed include eggs, trophy materials, powerful incense, etc. However, the team believes that the remaining items will not have a long term impact on the economy.

In regards to bans, overall, we permanently banned over 500 players who were the most grevious offenders; however, any temporary suspensions that were handed out due to this duplication bug have expired and these players are now allowed back in the game.
