[2019] Welcome to Open Beta

Greetings Adventurers!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Alpha and Closed Beta tests! These were huge moments for New World and we are so appreciative of the many players jumping in to check out the game for themselves. We watched as you battled, crafted, dueled, and explored your way across the vast and dangerous landscape of Aeternum and took all of the feedback and learnings we were able to get from these tests and got back to work. Now is the time to lift the curtain again and invite players back to the wilds of New World. Open Beta begins on September 9th!

We’re doing things a little differently this time around. With Open Beta there will be no Steam keys to redeem. Instead we are using a new feature called Steam Playtest. You will be able to request access on Steam beginning on September 8 at 7:00AM PT (2:00PM UTC). All you have to do is:

1. Open Steam
2. Go to the New World store page
3. Scroll down a bit and you will see “Join the New World Open Beta Playtest”
4. Click “Request Access”

When the Open Beta begins on the 9th, you will receive an email to whichever email you have tied to your Steam account, letting you know that you can now download and play in the New World Open Beta!

You may experience a delay in receiving an email from Steam to access the Open Beta. If you requested access and do not receive access by 9/11, please reach out to our Support team through the Support Website or in the Game Support section.

Open Beta FAQ

What languages is the Open Beta available in?

The Open Beta test will be available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain & LATAM), Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Can I talk / post / create content about / or stream the Open Beta?

Yes, during the Open Beta test you are allowed to share, record, or broadcast Beta content or gameplay. However, aspects of New World may change between Open Beta and launch, which may cause captured footage to become outdated. Check out our Content Usage Policy to learn more.

Is the Open Beta server capacity indicative of launch server capacity?

Open Beta is an important test for our server infrastructure and will feature a higher server capacity than the Closed Beta, but will not represent the full server capacity available at launch. Players may experience queue times during the Open Beta test.

Will my Open Beta progress be carried over to launch?

No, there will be a progress wipe between Open Beta and launch.

What has changed in New World between Closed Beta and Open Beta?

Will I need to download a new version of New World?

Yes, you will need to request access to the Open Beta client through the Steam Playtest tool, on the New World Steam page.
