You and I spoke earlier today on Discord and I mentioned that our #1 priority has been to action applications that were filled out correctly, and yours was not one of them. I also informed you that you'll either be asked to provide additional information or you'll receive a message to state your request was rejected.

I also admitted that I know it isn't ideal given how close we are to the release, and we'd hoped to have sent all messages by now, but we're trying to do our best given the huge volume of applications we've had to process.

Ideally we would have messaged everyone by the 19th as we had stated in the Clans: Pre-Registration Next Steps newspost, and in hindsight I regret not updating the post or providing better updates in general to those who had applied. The vast majority of Clan Leaders who had completed their form correctly received the message and were in the Discord Server by the 20th. This is something I can only apologise for - the reality of the situation however is that the volume of requests was huge, and we opted to focus our efforts on making sure those we had already invited were getting their names reserved before we started trying to identify gaps in weaker applications.

We have said from the start that everyone will receive a message regardless, and that is still the plan. In fact every applicant should have heard back by now.

Now, this part of my message is for everybody else, since only a tiny, tiny percentage of players would even be aware of the pre-registration process.

As a reminder, when we opened pre-registration it wasn't to allow Clans to reserve cool Clan names. It was to ensure that established, existing clans with a unique identity would be able to seamlessly move from existing systems and tools to the new Clan system.

We plan to share more information about the Pre-Registration process with the Clans release, but here's some early insight:

We had about 1600 requests in total. We rejected almost half of these requests for a variety of reasons, the three prominent reasons were: lack of proof for their ownership claim, lack of contact information for us to handle their request (we used Discord extensively for this process), or they weren't an established clan.

It might seem like a lot of rejections, but more than half of the rejections were for clans with either very small communities, or no community yet at all. These were often so small or new that giving us proper proof was difficult to establish a claim.

Now, that's not us saying that they don't deserve a clan. It's us saying that it wasn't the purpose of the pre-registration system. New clans, or clans yet to be formed, should follow the normal steps that everybody else has to go through with the full release in two days time.

The process is extremely manual, requiring a lot of communication and culminating with J-Mods meeting players in-game. As an Old School team we've put in time from our weekends and evenings to make this a reality. Like we said, we wanted to help out the established communities, some of which are older than some players! The end result is a Discord server with hundreds of extremely happy Clan Leaders who are raring to go.

As for name sniping, we plan to support Clan Leaders against this on a case-by-case basis after launch. When shown adequate proof of an ownership claim we'll of course give a Clan its rightful name.

Just gonna say, I sent in my app on 4/17 with everything established, and still haven't heard back. We only had 25 members at the time, so I understand if we were rejected. However, we haven't received any messages stating that we have been rejected. No communication at all, which sorta bummed us out.

What's your Clan Name/RSN? Everybody should have got a message. We can check that.
