I have recently created a Jagex account and linked it to an Old School account which I hadn't played since 2017. In the two weeks of playing and buying membership, I have been hacked, had my Jagex Account email changed (receiving an email saying account doesn't exist), account recovery request has been denied. They deleted all my Jagex and RuneScape affiliated emails so I no longer have access to creation dates etc. I can't see a single way to contact someone to talk about this. What can I do?

Hey u/Arcaluck,

Unfortunately, the advice you've received from others is correct, with a Jagex account, there is no manual way to recover it.

In order to have had your email account changed, hijackers would have had to have been able to log in by entering the Jagex account email and password, and authenticating their login via the e-mail.

This suggests to me that your e-mail address itself is compromised, so I would highly suggest taking steps to secure your e-mail address immediately.

Jagex accounts were created with increased account security in mind, and as part of this approach, we acted on player feedback to remove the old account recovery system due to concerns about historic data compromise from other websites being used by hijackers

. As such, if a hijacker has managed to authenticate their login (which would only be possible through the compromise of a non-Jagex affiliated service) and change the Jagex account e-mail and password, we are not able to assist with recovering this Jagex account.

I understand that this is frustrating, but there's nothing we can do to intervene in this case.
