Edit: Updated at 1pm BST (19th August)

We've edited the blog to reflect that Spria won't be able to change tasks like her father, Turael, does.

Edit: Updated at 7pm BST (18th August)

We've made changes to the proposal!

Some of you have pointed out that Turael residing in Burthorpe doesn’t make sense. He's the lowest-level Slayer Master, yet he's pretty far away from new players. We'd like to propose adding a Slayer Master to Draynor Village. Now, because we haven’t been as diligent as we would have liked with changes to early game areas (the Draynor Village dock, for example), we thought it was important to hear your views about this potential change. We aren't going to change the layout of Draynor, any Slayer Master will instead take up residence in a vacant building.

Earlier today we proposed relocating Turael to Draynor Village. You responded quite positively to the why behind the proposal, but your feedback made it clear that a more viable solution might be to add another NPC to Draynor whilst keeping Turael where he is, easily accessible in Burthorpe.

Allow us to introduce you to Turael's daughter, Spria. In another game Spria finds herself as Burthorpe's Slayer Master following Turael's untimely demise. But Turael is alive and kicking in Old School RuneScape! So we're proposing that Spria takes up residency as a Slayer Master in a vacant property within Draynor Village and would also play a notable role in A Porcine of Interest. Spria would share the same assignment pool as Turael. It'd be like having two Turael's.

With all of that in mind. We'd like to ask you: Would you like Turael's daughter, Spria, added to Draynor Village to act as a Slayer Master for new and low-levelled players?

Edit: Updated at 5pm BST (18th August)

There's a lot of feedback based on how Turael being in Burthorpe is preferable for some established players (it's easier to get to Burthorpe than Draynor using methods like the minigame teleport).

We've discussed this and probably we'll amend the blog and the poll question tomorrow!

We'd likely move Turael to Draynor, and have the sibling/replacement take over in Burthorpe. This is because Turael would play a part in Draynor during the quest.

How do you think this sounds?

It's a minor change to the blog, but here's the update:

Updated: 18th August

We’ve been amazed at the support you’ve shown for A Porcine of Interest which, in-turn, has led to suggestions for other changes that would help new adventurers. One of these has really caught our eye, and it's something we'd like to poll. As a result we're going to delay the poll until Friday so you've got time to consider the new question.

Some of you have pointed out that Turael residing in Burthorpe doesn’t make sense. He's the lowest-level Slayer Master, yet he's pretty far away from new players. So, you’ve come up with the great idea of relocating him to somewhere like Draynor Village.

Now, because we haven’t been as diligent as we would have liked with changes to early game areas (the Draynor Village dock, for example), we thought it was important to hear your views about this potential change. We aren't going to change the layout of Draynor, Turael will instead take up residence in a vacant building. We’ve already thought about the required tweaks needed to accommodate this change, like the clue scroll step or changes to Animal Magnetism, but given that some of it already takes place in Draynor, we think it fits extremely well.

With all of that in mind. We'd like to ask you: Should we move Turael from Burthorpe to Draynor Village, as described in the blog?

We look forward to hearing your feedback!

If it does pass try to make some sort of indication in the house that the master used to be in tell people where he has moved to since it might be confusing for people months down the line returning to the game and being unable to find their slayer master

Love it - we should certainly do something like that if this goes ahead.

Would keeping Turael in the same spot, but adding a sibling to Draynor that works identical in functionality be alright?

Could place a Slayer Tutor here for example to introduce players to the skill

We've discussed this, especially as Draynor is more difficult to get to regularly (Burthorpe has the minigame teleport for example).

It's probably we'll amend the blog and the poll question tomorrow!

Hey Sween two things.

1) If you end up adding a second NPC, you should make it Spria!

2) So if this NPC is added to Draynor, this would add a bit of a lore-headscratcher. Why would the Draynor people ask some rando to kill the vampyre when an Expert in slaying monsters lives there? Sure WoM is there too but he is a retired grumpy old man that robbed a bank, so it makes sense they don't want to approach him.

The blog has been amended, and Spria has been proposed!

I've discussed the latter point with the team and we're confident we can address that in a fun, humorous, Old School-y way!

Yah. With all the mentions of random letter "uraels" in the comments, I wanted to make sure the mods remembered Spria exists. In my other comment, I mentioned how there is a lot more room to build lore about her moving to Draynor to break out as her own Slayer Master after spending years of training with her father. A newbie Slayer Master, or even one before they are officially a Slayer Master, should work for the sake of the quest to introduce the skill while also being able to direct players to her father in Buthorpe. And while we don't know that much about Spria except that she took over for her father in RS2, I think she'd be a more interesting character to explore, especially if certain events ever happen in OSRS...

Ed had mentioned Spria earlier today actually. :)

Wouldn't it make more sense to move the new NPC to Draynor and keep Turael in Buthorpe? Also, the new NPC should be Spria, Turael's Daughter. She is already established in RS lore to be his succesor so it makes sense to introduce her into OSRS, even if she is still a Slayer Master in training.

We've revised our proposal, and the blog now introduces Spria to Old School.

Why not the sibling just be at Draynor and Turael stay in Burthorpe? Is there that much to gain vs to lose in legacy?

You're quite right, and we've made changes accordingly. We'd tweak the quest slightly too.

What's the objection to putting the new sibling in Draynor? Can't he/she not be part of the quest? I think a lot of players will find it confusingly that , iconic, turael, is suddenly in Draynor. It also doesn't make a lot of sense considering you need to get the blessed mithril axe from turael who would suddenly be a few doors away...

If there's an objection to adding him/her to draynor, can't you add this person to the inn between draynor and port sarim? Or something like that ?

Initially we didn't consider having the new NPC in Draynor because the quest design would involve Turael, but now we've proposed a new NPC (Turael's daughter) who would be involved in the quest. We're proposing Turael remain in Burthorpe, and his daughter is added to Draynor.

As others have said, how about if Turael moves to Draynor during the quest itself, and Spria takes over for him in Burthrope? Or maybe even have Spria be the one who features in the quest and have her be in Draynor?

We've opted for that latter choice!

Turael dies in While Guthix Sleeps, and in rs2&rs3 he was replaced by his daughter, Spria. Perhaps she would be a good fit for a Draynor slayer master?

She sure would. Blog has been changed :)
