Long ago, the citizens of the Kharidian Desert lived prosperous and luxurious lives. However, all that changed when Amascut, the Goddess of Rebirth, was corrupted and warped. Amascut became the Devourer, intend on devouring every soul in existence. Deep within the desert, an ancient tomb has long hidden a great power. It is this great power that Amascut seeks. You must take the fight to Amascut before it's too late. The Tomb of Amascut, Old School's third Raid will be coming in early 2022.

Notable features:

- New BIS mage offhand, combined with arcane sigil. At time of release you'll be able to dismantle arcane spirit shield and get the sigil back, destroying the spirit shield.

- Scaling difficulty, start will be easy and end will be harder. Rewards available for just doing the start.

- Locked behind next quest on desert storyline

- Team size 1-8, subject to change I guess as with any announcement

- Not safe death for hcim

Mod Ed, how long will this quest be? And will it be classified as a master quest?

Beneath Cursed Sands will be a Master tier quest. Length wise it will likely be a bit shorter than Sins of the Father.

Plan is for a blog covering both the raid and the quest to come out very soon.

Will the quest also unlock Menaphos for us, or is that for the sequel?

Also curious in general how the raid will work into desert quests afterwards. Will there be a "night at the theatre" quest for it someday? Or with the invocations, will it be possible for your average player to get a KC so they can do a quest sequel that presumably requires it?

Menaphos won't be opening with this quest but we will be finishing off the desert coastline. Not 100% decided on how the raid will work with future desert quests yet but thanks to invocations it shouldn't be too much of an ask for at least one completion at some point in the series.

Menaphos won't be opening with this quest but you might meet one or two characters from the city.

There's more rewards to be announced in a blog coming soon. There'll be a beta to let people test them out before the poll.

Yes :)

The Masori Armour.

This wouldn't be based on the 12th Egyptian month Masôri would it?
Meaning Birth of the Sun so this is likely a Tumeken based armour?

A mixture of that and the Medjay.

How soon is the blog coming? Looking forward to it, but its getting late where I live! :)

The Tombs of Amascut specific blog won't be coming today. It should hopefully be at some point in the next few weeks.

Any thoughts on tying Raids 3 in with a quest? Similat to Night at the Theatre but it could potentially be an organic continuation of wanted!

Not sure if we should rush to do something like A Night at the Theatre again given how that went. Still, considering the raid itself plays an important part in the desert storyline, I can see it playing a part in a sequel quest one day.

The aim is for this to be more solo friendly than ToB was.

apologies if you're not the person to ask

are we going to be fighting amascut? is that even possible?

The raid will feature a final twin boss that must be defeated to drive Amascut out of the tombs. To say any more at this point would be too big a spoiler.

While the aim is for it to be solo friendly, our main focus will be on group play.

Any plans to add a low-mid level raids? Would love to do raids with friends but not all of them have strong accounts or the time to play as much. Rewards dont even need to be great

Invocations will help make this one more accessible. I’d recommend trying out Entry Mode at the Theatre of Blood as well.

This is kinda off on a tangent, but can we expect to see a CoX-related quest as part of the Zeah storyline later down the road?

Nothing planned at the moment but it’s not impossible.

Idk about a beta for a pvm raid i feel that takes out of the day one experience and we wont have people waiting for whos the first person to do it. instead we will have loads of people doing it first try compared to people doing it the first time and loads of deaths

We want to let people test out the rewards before they vote on them in the poll.

Well, you wouldn't need to rush it. The reworked quest acquits itself quite well. But yeah, I think a Night at the Theatre kind of quest tie in would be cool.

The “rush” referred to how soon we’d do something like that again rather than how much time we’d put into it if we did decide to do it.

About how hard will Raids 3 be? Will it get a hard mode or story mode too?

It will not have modes. Instead difficulty will be more granular and customisable thanks to invocations. I’d expect at the lowest end, it will be around the level of Entry Mode Theatre of Blood.

40%

What are the invocations and how will they affect the raid's difficulty? At the highest end, how hard can it get?

Before entering the raid you’ll be able to activate any number of invocations. Each invocation enabled will change the difficulty of the raid in some way. For example, a very basic invocation might give bosses more health or increased damage. You’ll be able to use these to tailor the difficulty of the raid to your liking, with loot scaling based upon the invocations used.

Stop making all content soloable. A lot of content is solo only. It makes sense for some content to be group only.

There’s no reason to arbitrarily limit gameplay in that way. A raid will always be designed for groups and that will be the optimal way to play, but that doesn’t mean we should stop people from soloing it if that’s what they prefer.

Is this quest and raid going to be available to pures?

The quest has no Defence requirements or rewards, so yes.

Sorry if my comment came across as a little aggressive but I don't understand the logic here. You make solo only bosses so you can design unique solo mechanics. By making the content soloable, it stops the team from creating really cool unique group mechanics.

I don’t think it does. It just means we have to ensure those mechanics scale well. We’re already working on some really fun group based mechanics for this.

Menaphos won’t be opening with the quest or the raid. Telling new desert stories does mean we’re moving closer to opening the city though.
