Hey there OSRS'ers. I don't really know where else to go with this so here goes.

On Monday, January 21st, I was a complete idiot and logged in to a fake "secure . runescape . com". I even gave my bank pin....lol.....Whatever, I got DDOS'd and then my account was logged in to and cleaned by malicious intruders. They even messaged my roommate at the time on OSRS saying something like "go to this website, tinyurl****.com for free 3mil".

Anyway, I went through account recovery and got back on my account. Obviously I was cleaned. No big deal. I changed all my passwords immediately (email, bank, facebook, twitter, etc.). I proceeded to grind on my account for about 12 hours and then went to sleep. I used some PTO the next day because I really wanted to grind out some slayer (I'm only about a month back into this game after many years away). I logged in on Tuesday, January 22nd, and...."your account has been disabled". Oh the horror.....

My account was permanently banned. I couldn't believe it. I submitted an appeal immediately. I got an email from Jagex support a couple hours later saying "your account, sexton325, isn't banned...." WTF?

I have reached out to @jagexsupport, @jagex, and a few mods on Twitter about this. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything yet...Mod Ash actually responded to me but he said he doesn't work in that department and can't help, which is understandable. Not really sure where to turn, so Reddit seemed like a good way to get my story out there.....

UPDATE 1: It’s been approximately 72 hours since the ban on Tuesday January 22nd. Mod kelvin responded to this post yesterday. Still waiting to hear from jagex but I have faith that they will get this sorted out

Mod Kelvin from Player Experience here. It seems like there’s a bit of confusion going on regarding your account. No worries, I’ll do my best to clear this up!

I can see that your account was accessed by a third party, following which it was banned. It looks like you then regained access to your account (good to see!) and attempted to appeal the ban. However, in your original ban appeal, you didn’t supply the right information for the account in question, which resulted in a response from us explaining that your ban appeal didn’t lead to an existing account with a ban:

'You're receiving this email as you've recently tried to appeal a ban, however the information you've provided doesn't link to a RuneScape account that has been banned.'

It seems you may have misunderstood this and thought that the account you’d regained access to didn’t have a ban. It seems like a simple confusion regarding the wording in the email. 😊 I can see that you’ve since submitted a further ban appeal (with the correct info) for the account which is waiting in the queue and will be responded to ASAP.

I hope this clears up any confusion regarding the situation!
