Hello! We've had a few technical issues with the next update for Closed Beta that we briefly discussed in our most recent Dev Diary, but the build is currently being tested and should hopefully be out this week for Closed Beta players. The devs are finishing the trailer that will include the Early Access release date for the end of this month. Thank you to all for your patience, we know everyone is very excited to play Prehistoric Kingdom! - Rosie (PK Community Manager)

As others have mentioned, the game will cost $29.99 at launch and is not expected to bump up during any point in development.

Currently it's a closed beta. You would have had to have bought the Beta Package by March 19th 2021. The game will be available to the public for Early Access in April 2022!

Although we'll be launching into Early Access on PC, we're open to try and get it running on MAC or even Linux if there's enough of an audience for it. No ETA on when/if that'll be however!

As others have said, the team isn't interested in playable creatures as it may jeopardise the game's identity and core mechanics. Whether or not unofficial mods allow this sort of thing is another story. :)

I'll go ahead and lock this thread to prevent further discourse, but to summarise:

Prehistoric Kingdom offers four different skin designs for the Tyrannosaurus. The "Brumal" skin features a short coat of feathers whilst the other three are scaly. Hope this helps!

We would like to have the game localized at some point, but no further information is available.

In fact, most dinosaurs didn't even had scales, but smooth/rugged skin.

You are a total imbecile. And Tyrannosaurus WILL have feathers in this game.

We currently have no plans to include prehistoric apes, hominids or monkeys as animals in Prehistoric Kingdom.

Thank you very much for the reply. That's more than fine if the priority is management. Though I am glad to hear its still in the works and a part of the plan. I believe the full game is planned for approximately Q3 of 2019 or some...

Yes, we have recently pushed a Mac version of the demo to Steam.

It appears to have more issues than the Windows client, but it should work for the most part. Full release is expected to be better across the board.

Hi!

Unfortunately there won't be a mac version for the demo as we don't have any machines available to actively test it. However, the full game will have support for the platform!

No, Collision Course, or Project Crynosaur hasn't been in development for what I'd call "a very short amount of time"... in fact, I'm pretty sure they've been in development for longer than we've been. You might say their latest game iteration has been in development for a fraction of that, but then again, so has ours. Like our credits point out, our demo took around 1 year to make, completely unfunded. Either way, indie teams are different, different developers can come from different backgrounds, live under different circumstances, thus comparing unpaid workflows is never fair or accurate.

Other than that, yeah, we may not be the game for you if the park building is not what you enjoy in a park builder. Not to say we don't want our animals to feel more realistic eventually, as we fully express to expand on their AI, but that's simply not the focus right now, considering we've just released a first iteration on what is supposed to be a game with a huge scope.

Oh boy, are there things wrong with this.

Alright, first of all, the demo you played now and what we were working on 3 years ago (yep, not 4, closest trailer we've ever released was in 2014) are entirely different things. Inefficient? Probably, but it's to be expected for an indie studio to undergo major changes caused by various issues especially that early in development. This demo should however prove we've got a much better idea of what we're doing and what we're going for right now.

Secondly, as we said many times, this is not an AI simulator where you let your animals run loose and take notes on their every behaviour variable. This game is a zoo builder first and foremost. Sure, we would love for our animals to have as much of a realistic behaviour as possible in the future, but the massive undertaking that 'hunting and herding' is made it clear for us that we would focus on the core of the game first.

So no, neither lazy, nor camera tricks. Just ... Read more
