So I changed my aim & shoot to L1 & R1, and my weapon isn't shooting, I changed the aim button back to L2 and it lets me shoot but doesn't want to shoot while it's R1. I tried restarting the game and it's the same still.

Thanks for reporting this and I'm sorry to hear that the controls aren't working when customised.
Does it work if you only change the aim button and leave shoot as default?
Thanks for clarifying that for us, @kckilla0494 - I understand remapping aim to L1 also seems to be stopped R2 from shooting. I've added that to our report, so we'll get it looked into.
Just in case our teams ask, can you tell me if you've rebound any other buttons at all? Or are the other controls all default?

We have reported the issue to the game team to look into but haven't got any updates to share on this currently but if the fault can be found then they will look at fixing this.
One thing they have asked to find out is if players affected have changed the Custom button assignation for the PS system?
To check please follow the path [Settings>Accessibility>Controllers>Custom Button Assignments.]
