[2022] Game is overheating my graphics card and causing random fps stutters

Not sure why this is happening, the game used to run flawlessly until the latest season came out (grim sky.)

I have a rtx 3080 and an i7-9700k and am able to run any other game on high - ultra settings ion 4k and my video card doesn't run hot or cause fps stutters.

I disabled all the overlays and I also run the game itself in 1440p with med to high settings. Although the FPS counter says 240 fps, it doesn't stay consistent and I experience quick fps spike drops.

Everything is up to date and I verified the game files. I ran both vulcan and not vulcan versions of the game and it's the same issues.

Anyone have any ideas?
