Today i wanted to play rainbow with my friends but they appear offline to me, while they are actually online.

Hi Hyperz44! My apologies for this inconvenience. Although your friends are appearing offline, are you still able to queue up with them? Also, please try emptying Uplay's cache to see if that makes any differences. Thanks!
