The sound is crackling sometimes everything I play, and seems to happen when there's a change in the UI (changing cams, switching guns, etc.). Some sounds like breaking windows, explosions, also crackle in some occasions. The only crash I've had was in Chalet during prep phase, I heard the crackle, the sound turned off, and the game crashed a couple of seconds later.
