I could talk for hours about Baron. He's not a hugely complicated character, but he's still got a lot of potential.

Since you've got him diamond, I can assume you know how to play him to a basic degree, so I'll skip over the basic stuff.

My usual Baron build in arena looks something like this:

-Warrior's Axe

-CD Boots

-Gauntlet of Thebes

-Ethereal Staff

-Pridwen

-Mantle Of Discord/Divine Ruin/Winged Blade/Spear of the Magus

-Sundering Axe

It's obviously changed somewhat with S8, so I'm still trying to work out if it's the most optimal, but it's still a great build regardless of what's changed.

Second thing to highlight is using his ult in the best way possible. First, you rarely want to ult someone who can get out of your ult. Track beads, track movement abilities and track CC immune abilities. Zeus with beads down? Ult him! KA just walked back from base? Waste of an ult.

Then there's some more advanced ways you can use your ult:

-In Arena specifically, ulting people through the pillars can be useful, since it maximises your ult duration and gives more damage and hysteria. Often you'll just want them to hit the coffin and get bursted down, but if you get a big ult around the pillar, try and keep it up for as long as you can while still getting the bonus damage.

-Flicking your ult on and off of a target is useful for a few reasons. One, you can keep them fixed in place regardless of whether or not you plan on hitting them with the coffin, allowing for you to effectively lock in place multiple people for a few seconds. You also maximise hysteria uptime, maximise damage and maximise how tanky you are.

-Pulling in squishies with the edge of your ult is sometimes useful, since tanks who aren't paying attention might fail to block the bonus damage if they aren't being actively pulled.

-Keeping track of damage immune abilities and relics like Aegis is always something worth doing, since people like to use them as close to taking the bonus damage as possible. Just stop pulling them in, wait for the Aegis to expire, and then hit them with the bonus damage as soon as it expires. They've wasted a big cooldown and they're still dead.

There's more, but this post is getting far too long. I love playing Baron, have done since his release, and I hope you continue to do the same! Feel free to ask if you've got questions.

eh I disagree
