I know last year and the previous year's they did one. But what do you think the deals will be this year?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I hope we won't get any Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. This in solidarity to the worldwide strikes being announced for it this year in various sectors. Would be nice to see Hi-Rez do the solidarity thing and boycott Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

I'm confused, the 'worldwide strikes' are from which companies exactly? I tried to google but got just a handful of American companies so I'm lost.

Also, the 'strike' is apparently due to the over-production of the goods. I honestly fail to see how HiRez not doing a sale on Black Friday correlates to that at all

Take a look at the r/antiwork movement, r/blackfridayblackout and similar sources, as it is mostly a continuation of their effort. It is not just American focused. Several friends of mine through-out Europe told me that there are serious talks about this, including Portugal, France and the Netherlands.

But even if it would just be America only, Hi-Rez should probably have it on the agenda, given the American focus. The main point of the strikes are not overproduction of goods, but the general underappreciation, underpaying and overworking of workers.

Same principles that are underlying for strikes such as the John Deere, Kellogg's, McDonalds and the Film TV Workers Union, or with the Amazon strikes in Germany. And with the way the Climate conference in Glasgow is currently going, I wouldn't be surprised if environmental groups jump on the opportunity as well.

I'm sorry but I still fail to see how that correlates to HiRez. All the companies you mentioned produce something on that day and not doing so will be a direct hit on the companies that treat them badly. HiRez doing or not doing a sale on their fake coin currency changes nothing.

In my opinion, there are vastly better ways to show solidarity.

Black Friday sales symbolizes the issues the many groups are protesting against. It is widely considered as the day that companies get back in the black numbers. There are plenty of other opportunities to put the gems on discount, for instance around the SWC.

Doing nothing during Black Friday could be seen as showing sympathy for the current system or worker exploitation. Not doing Black Friday sales could be seen as showing sympathy for the protests. Either way it could be very telling for where they stand on.

Especially since while gems are fake coins, they are bought with actual money during these sales.

Yes but WHY is my question? I'm very much so against Kellogg, Nestle, McDonalds and other companies for what they do and fully support the strike but I also know I can't care less if HiRez does their sale or not, even though I won't buy any gems.

It seems silly to hold a miscellaneous company responsible for something they have no part of, and expecting them to show solidarity in any way possible, even if it makes no sense, is silly. We can't expect that from everyone, that they do wild things that make no sense irl just in the name of 'solidarity', which at the end of the day is worth literally nothing.

In short, every bit helps and awareness is a big thing.

Smite has a pretty consistent, worldwide audience of mostly younger people. A portion of whom do not currently have jobs, while others are in the earlier phases of their carreers. It is in everybody's interests that things improve. For those already working as they directly benefit from it, for those joining the workforce eventually to have a better place.

Even if all HiRez does is delay their sales and makes a public message about the matters at hand it would already be something.

It would also give us more reason to believe that HiRez is treating their employees well and cares about workers rights.

They certainly will not be the tipping scale to either side in this topic, but they can amplify the message to their mostly younger, global audience.

I guess it's agree to disagree in this then, which is fine. I completely understand your perspective, but just disagree that the cost to benefit ratio is good. As far as we know, HiRez is a good company, and the profits from all sales directly correlate to its successes, obviously, so I feel like postponing or removing the biggest sale of the year in their most popular game would hurt them and the people who work there waaaaay more than it would spread a message that would change someone's mind.
