Almost certainly the issue is the old MacOS version you are using. The new launcher version uses a new version of Electron which, for instance, no longer works on WIndows 7 - I suspect the same has happened with MacOS!

Any chance you can update to 12.x or later?

Absolutely, they are separate apps with a different dev team. As the same launcher is used for multiple games, it would make no sense to have it's development tied to one particular game.

The newest iMac that cannot run anything later than 10.13 is 27" iMac Mid 2011 iMac12,2 - is that what you have, or something older?

Aside from selecting the Steam or Nakama MP service, the launchers have nothing to do with MP whatsoever.

That's because there are none.

The only idea I've seen so far is to rename the 2023.2 folder that Paradox Launcher.app is in, to 2099.99 instead, so it is always seen as newer than the latest update. Does that work for you?
