[2024] New to RTS, need orientation

I'm totally new to the RTS genre but I'm very interested in getting into it. Not planning on being super competitive, just want to have fun and get the satisfaction that RTS can bring to the table, both, in soloplay and multiplayer.

I'm struggling choosing between AoE2, AoE4, SC2 and even looking forward for other games coming out this year such as Age of Mythology Retold and Stormgate.

Don't really need to know what you guys consider the superior game because thats subjective. Rather want to know what's the perception that others have on those games and what I need to know before jumping into one of them.

What are the pros and cons that you guys know about each game?
- Are there enough people playing ___ game?
- How is their community?
- What are the main appeal of each game?
- What are the main flaws?
