So far I’ve have played roughly 30 games of 1v1 as vanguard and I’m trying to understand what type of unit comp is feasible for VvC
So considering that generally, celestials are going to pressure early, potentially making a creation chamber right outside your natural, and containing you on 2 bases, as long as they don’t try to cheese with morph cores, which I understand is dependent on map.
So given this hypothetical, assuming celestials build mass argent and kri, what composition of vanguard units is a good go to for this situation.
Ive watched I’ve recently watched pro sc2 players in this matchup struggle in the same way i do. Given that the vanguard player is stuck on two bases, the celestials are going to have eco advantage and will have a larger army, granted it’s primarily argents and kri. but it seems like there isn’t a potent enough composition of units to deal with these two low tech units en mass.
For example, lancers can’t fight argents early, so you have to rely on buzz saw sentries till your bio lab is finished so you can build exo’s to fight the argents
But then by the time you have critical mass of exo’s to fight out if your natural, kri are on the field and now your exo’s cannot effectively fight because of the kri being light, as exo’s are anti heavy
So then you might build Vulcans as they have bonuses vs light, if your eco allows for it, but because of how expensive Vulcans are it doesn’t seem feasible to try and reach critical mass to the point where the Vulcans can deal with kri, exo’s deal with argents, with lancers sprinkled in to buffer for exo’s
Ive seen pro matches where the vanguard player builds mass hedgehog but kri still effectively countered them over time
So tl;dr what are y’all’s thoughts on how to effectively deal with mass argent/kri play? Cause I can’t figure it out and I haven’t seen pro’s figure it out either.
On mobile so I can’t edit the mistakes in the post rn, sorry
