This is just this one colony? If you start another new one you can play it okay?

Any mods in use?

So, after installing the Dlcs you were able to play some colonies okay without this problem. Then something changed or happened, and every colony since has this problem.

Is that a correct summary of the timeline and issue here?

If so, we'll basically have to guess what could possibly have happened or changed in your system to cause this to you. It's not the game itself as it has not changed for quite some time now.

Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

You are critically short of free space on your boot drive C: - Windows likes at least 10% free there. This means Windows could not swap out much in memory if it needed to, so your free paging file space cannot be used.

Whether that is related to this game problem I'm not 100% sure but it definitely needs to be addressed. See if you can move anything from C: to D: so there is, say, 20gb free on C: (10gb for extra swap space, 10gb for Windows' elbow room).

As to the game log: it stops just after the sound section, when Unity starts loading the game and its DLCs. I think we might try a clean reinstall:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\{large number}\
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\ folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add MarsSteam.exe to the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or AppData SM locations, before installing again.

Good luck!

That is just a reference to the two game folder structures I detailed in the previous lines. The point being they need to be completely gone or empty before the reinstall.

I may have misinterpreted something here ... was that log above taken just after this game freeze? Because on looking into it, I don't think there's any attempt to load a saved game, or start a new game.

If we could get a log taken immediately after the problem has occurred please.
