After the 17.1 version is updated, when I switch the equipment configuration, the appearance of the character's backpack and vest is locked into two fixed appearances, as shown in the following figure

I'm sorry you both are encountering this issue with appearance customization! This has been reported at this time! Could you both try the workaround provided by @T-H-U-D-D and let me know if that helps or not?
