I haven't played the game in a long time after serious technical issues many months ago. I thought i would give it another go, and now the game frequently just hangs and freezes, sometimes for 5 mins. I have Radeon RX580; AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor; but only 8GB RAM. Very difficult to play.

The system parts you've described certainly meet our system requirements for minimum settings, so freezes of five minutes are very unusual. If you've been sure to verify the game files, update your graphics drivers and OS, and you've made sure there's no background programs slowing down your system (all steps noted in our troubleshooting guide linked by Banan already - thanks!), then we'll be able to investigate further with the help of some system files. Please see our system files guide, where we describe where to find the two files we'll need.
