I have noticed that when the in-game weather is wet, like after rain or in the morning, I get these weird bright white bloom "fog" glitches in the distance. They disappear slowly after a while when I stare at them, but sometimes if I focus my camera on a different "fog" spot again, I can just move my mouse slightly up and down and the fog will go bigger an brighter again. If I turn the camera away (by turning my mouse left or right) and face the fog again, it is instantly gone.

I have tryed changing the CONTRAST in-game. Lowering (0/20) or increasing (20/20) the contrast makes NO difference regarding this glitch, the result is still the same. Changing LIGHTING options makes no difference either. I am not using any OVERLAYS or graphic enhancements. As I said, when I turn the camera away from the white bloom "fog" cloud (so I cannot see it anymore on my monitor), and then turn the camera back at where the white "fog" has been, the "fog" is instantly gone and everything is clearly visible (demonstrated in the video I posted.) Hence my conclusion is that it must be a visual glitch rather than a graphical feature.

Interesting is also the following: While looking at the white "fog", moving the camera up and down will increase the space the white "fog" covers on the screen. The same happens when zooming in and out with a weapon (like ADS-ing) when looking at the white "fog".

FYI: This is mostly notable during wet weather AFTER rain or in the morning (as you can clearly see in the second video I posted.)

My specs:

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 TI (Driver: 446.14 / DirectX 12)
Monitor: ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q
Windows: Edition: Windows 10 Pro; Version: 2004

I have created a Support-Ticket and attached my DxDiag and Msinfo files. The ticket number (for reference) is: 11962137.


*Update*

Live-Support told me the following:

1. It might be a faulty Display Port cable, which I don't believe: The Display Port cable was provided by ASUS with the monitor; I also switched the Display Port cable and when I loaded in the game at the same spot (2nd video) the issue was still there...)

2. It might be an unsupported monitor frequency, which I don't believe either: Switching from 240Hz to 200Hz, 144Hz, 120Hz and 60Hz made zero difference at first glance. I am currently testing this further... [*Update*: After 2 hours of testing I can confirm that changing the monitor frequency made no difference]

3. It might be a RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 windows error in the game files, which I am sure there is because this game has memory leak issues, BUT this has nothing to do with the bug at hand. There is no way I can fix a RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error on my end since I am not a developer at Massive.


*Update*

I can confirm that this is an in-game issue and unrelated to my system specs. In the following video you can see that this player has the same issue I have. Please watch at the 2:34 minute mark.

I am currently trying to narrow down if this issue can be resolved by changing things in the in-game graphics option.


*Update* (6/27/2020)

After hours of testing and changing different graphics settings one by one I can confirm that it has something to do with the Volumetric Fog option. On High and Ultra quality my issue disappeared, while on Medium and Low quality my issue was present. The videos I shared used Low/Medium quality Volumetric Fog, while playing on High did not cause the issue.

What I did to recreate this issue:

1. Changed Volumetric Fog from High to Medium in the in-game menu
2. Exited the game
3. Deleted content of the following folders in Documents/My Games/Tom Clancy's The Division 2 (so the game can recreate them on launch): ShaderByteCode & ShaderCache
4. Verified the game files via Uplay (*Update*: After further testing, I noticed this is not required)
5. Launched the game


Upon request, attached you will find screenshots of my in-game graphics settings. As I said, based on my testing I conclude that the Volumetric Fog option on Medium is the issue:


*Update*

After further testing I experienced that it is the Volumetric Fog option on Medium/Low combined with the Ambient Occlusion option on Medium/Low setting. Both settings set to High will NOT cause any issues as far as I can tell.

Can you also upload updated copies of your system files.

Thanks for keeping in touch about this error, S3lll. This issue is still being investigated on our end, but I have added that you suspect the cause of the error is from having the settings for Volumetric Fog on Medium/Low versus High. I'm very sorry that we do not have any updates to share yet, but I do hope to post details here once I have any new information.
