why do developers do this. the game should feel like it wants to be played, not try to annoy me every chance it gets.

Each horde is announced the way it comes. It can happen that the horde is redirected to get the colony because of some natural barrier like forest or mountains. So you have to have your area discovered and know how it can affect the way of the hordes.

Follow these steps

- Check if you have any kind of real time scanner from your antivirus. These kinds of tools usually make the game get blocked and not launched properly.

- Be sure that you are not using Radeon Software like Adrenalin or other programs like After Burner or Riva-Tuner

- Allow the game in your antivirus/firewall black lists.
