This week at Bungie, we seem to have written a short novel about upcoming weapon sandbox changes.
Hello, dear reader. I’d like to kick this TWAB off with a quick word of advice; never end your drafting phase with your introduction. I’ve been kicking this thing around for about 15 minutes now, trying to figure out the best way to launch you into yet another Mega-TWAB worth of sandbox information. We’ve got quite a few changes planned for next Season, and we’re excited to start spreading the word.
Let’s keep our conversation about the live game short and sweet, shall we? It’s an interesting week, to say the least! Master difficulty for Vow of the Disciple has kicked off, with just a few short weeks left before Guardians begin to claim their raid titles. Grandmasters continue to push the limits of player skill, buildcrafting, and general gameplay strategy. Iron Banner has come and gone, but Trials of Osiris returns this Friday with some light changes to the post... Read more

This week at Bungie, we talk about pixels and the Kilts for Kids fundraising event!

Welcome to your first April 2022 installment of the TWAB. Yes, you read that right! We’re already in the fourth month of the year. Time is flying by, and we can’t help but wonder why. Maybe it’s the fact that we shipped an expansion in February, or the weekly hunts for Deepsight weapons that we’ve been embarking on. In any case, Destiny 2 keeps going strong.
Gambit Labs went live earlier this week. Invasion Swap has been getting us some great anecdotal feedback for Mote-dunking and invasion strategies, and we’re excited to see the data and feedback as it comes in. We did have a small hiccup on Tuesday where the Pinnacle reward for playing three matches was not appearing, but the team quickly issued a server-side fix to get you your just rewards. Paired with double Gambit rep, it’s a great week to complete some Seasonal Challenges for Bright Dust and earn some nice Gambit... Read more

This week at Bungie, it’s Mechs vs Monsters... evolved!
It’s officially been over a month since The Witch Queen launched. Savathûn has been defeated. Rhulk dished out some literal kicks to the face in Vow of the Disciple. Worms have been launched, weapons have been crafted, and Guardians have dug deep into the Seasonal story. We had an accolades trailer released this week with some fun quotes about the experience of playing the expansion. We’re proud of where The Witch Queen landed, and we’re ever-thankful to all who jumped in to play.

Don’t get us wrong, the train doesn’t stop with some nice quotes about the game! The future is bright, and we have work to do as we reach further into the stars. Season of [REDACTED] is just a couple of months out, and the team is hard at work tying down work items and jamming through test passes.  Once we get a little deeper into the Season, we’ll start talking about what’s to come in sandbox updates, general qua... This week at Bungie, there's quite a bit to do in Destiny 2.
Hello, and welcome once again to our weekly installment of Bungie news. I’m going to be up front with you, I’ve been spending quite a lot of this week diving deeper and deeper into The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen. Between the Vow of Disciple raid, PsiOps Battlegrounds, weekly repeatable story missions, Throne World secrets, Master Vox Obscura, Wellspring, Iron Banner, Altars of Reflection, and our rituals... it’s difficult to think of how to even kick this TWAB off. Let’s stick to what rolled out on Tuesday at the weekly reset and go from there, shall we?

Over the last few weeks, the Vanguard has entertained a shaky alliance with Caiatl and the Cabal. A trusted Psion has been exploring the minds of Hive Lieutenants in the Tower, searching for clues on what the Lucent Brood... Read more

This week at Bungie, it’s all about the Vow of the Disciple World First race.
What a wild week it’s been. It feels like just yesterday we were announcing The Witch Queen, and now we find ourselves on the doorstep of a World First raid race. This is the weekend that many of you have been waiting for, strategically planning your Power gains and grabbing armfuls of snacks from grocery store shelves. In under two days, the race begins. Let’s get you up to speed.

If you’re new to Destiny or have yet to engage in a raid, this is the pinnacle of our endgame content. Players around the world are challenged to compete, decoding devious puzzles while engaging in heavy combat through multiple activity encounters. We’re not just talking a few enemies here and there, but hordes of combatants clawing away at lives and time while players race to the finish line.  We expect no different from Vow of the Disciple with multiple teams at the final boss trad... This week at Bungie, we are but days away from the launch of The Witch Queen.
We’re finally here. The last TWAB before The Witch Queen. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been touching on new systems arriving on February 22, picking through some quality of life changes for the rituals you engage with, and even spending some time with the team in a full-length ViDoc to set the stage for what’s coming. We have a few topics left to cover, but only a few days stand between you and the next chapter of Destiny 2.
Season of the Lost is wrapping up this week. No better way than with a final mission to tee-up our next expansion. Have you played through it yet? No? Well, get in there! We know The Witch Queen is coming, but this is a fun close to the Season that you won’t want to miss. As a note, the team has been investigating a few issues with the activity since it went live. You may need to play it a few times for the quest to complete, and we ask that if you’re matchmak... Read more

This week at Bungie, we’ve got a lot going on.

Hello, and welcome to another installment of This Week at Bungie, our weekly source of news and chatter from around the studio. Nothing too wild happened this week, right? Just your normal Monday morning announcement of BUNGIE JOINS SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT  (“SIE”).

Well, okay. That is kind of a big deal. If you haven’t heard much about it, well, we’ve joined... Read more

This week at Bungie, we’re sweeping up some blues.

Time’s been flying by, hasn’t it? Including the article you’re reading today, just five TWABs stand between you and The Witch Queen. We don’t (yet) have the technology to enter a hyper-sleep that can bridge these gaps, but we do have the power to set some expectations on topics we’ll be covering between now and then.
This week, we’ll be talking about Power, blue drops, Gunsmith reputation, some shifts in Exotic sources, and more. Over the next few TWABs, we’ll be talking Vanguard rep, Gambit reworks, weapon crafting, and Void 3.0... but not necessarily in that order. Don’t forget the patch note previews and additional weapon tuning details. It’ll be a fun time, and hopefully we’ll give you some things to chew on each week. We may even have a trailer or two to share with you before launch. If you haven’t been on social media in the last week, you might have missed some bite-sized snippets of story...  ... Read more

This Week at Bungie, we talk 30th Anniversary release, Moments of Triumph, Trials Labs (Freelance), and QOL updates!
Welcome to our final TWAB before the 30th Anniversary release. It’s an exciting time. Just a few more days stand between you and some fresh Destiny 2 experiences. We have some fun news to get through today, so let’s get to it! We’ll start you off with a recap of our Game2Give Charity announcement, some news on Trials: Freelance, and then a few fun patch notes previews.

This week at Bungie, we take a look at every grain in the abilities sandbox.
Hello, and welcome to another sandbox-focused TWAB. If you’re new around these parts, you may be asking, “What’s a sandbox?” — well, it’s complicated. It's split between the weapons you use, the armor you equip, the perks and mods that you hunt for, and the enemies you face. Let's be real; the Destiny 2 sandbox is broad. Last week, we focused on the weapons sandbox and what changes are planned for December 7. This week, we’re taking a pass on the abilities your Guardian possesses. Think Supers, Melee's, Grenades, Class abilities. I highly recommend you grab a glass of water and maybe even a snack, because we've got a pretty lengthy update for you to read.
Before we dive into the details, it’s customary to have a TWAB intro discussing what’s going on in the realm of Bungie and Destiny. Let’s keep this short and sweet, shall we?
  • Our 30th Anniversary is out on December 7, wh...

This week at Bungie, we set our sights on a slew of Bungie Bounties!

While we may be sad that Festival of the Lost has concluded, Lord Saladin is having a bit of fun. Iron Banner is back, and a little brighter than what you may remember. A pesky little bug prevented the Iron Forerunner sets from lighting with a brilliant flame during our first Iron Banner event of the season. Now, as many players have discovered, these armor sets burn brightly during Iron Banner weeks.

This week at Bungie, we look to Trials Freelance, fashion, and pumpkins.

Festival of the Lost is in full swing! If you haven’t donned a mask and earned some candy yet, get to it. Eva has goodie bags, Exotic cosmetics, and a refreshed collection of fun masks for you to earn over the course of the event. If you’re still on the hunt for a perfectly rolled Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle, join some friends to jam ‘em out!

If you’re looking for a challenge outside of the Festival, we have a few options for you. Grandmaster Nightfall features Exodus Crash this week, sending shivers down the spines of many Guardians who’ve been with us since Destiny 2 launched all those years ago. The Comedian Shotgun and Shadow Price Auto Rifle are dropping from Nightfalls this week. If you’d like a shiny Adept version, Grandmaster is the difficulty for you. Shattered Real... Read more

This week at Bungie, preparations for Festival of the Lost begin!
Welcome back to another weekly installment of the TWAB. There’s been quite a bit going on, hasn’t there? We’ve got teatime with Savathûn. Trails to trek in the Shattered Realm. Astrals to align in Astral Alignment. Fikrul and his hoard of mini-Screebs also kicked off our Seasonal offering of Grandmaster Nightfalls with The Hallowed Lair. Maybe you’re simply looking for some sweet loot, decoding Umbral Engrams for the perfect double-double perk roll on the Stasis Fractethyst Shotgun. If you took a couple weeks off, no better time to catch up!
Outside of gameplay, we’ve also provided an update on our plans for the ... Read more

This week at Bungie, we revamp Trials of Osiris.

Seven years of Destiny. Seven years of Space Magic. Seven years of friendships we’ve made along the way. It’s still hard to comprehend how much time has passed and how much has happened since we took our first steps as Guardians. Want to take a trip down memory lane? We’ve whipped up a short and sweet article to talk about early inspirations for the Destiny universe, and a fun story from the Destiny 1 reveal.

This week at Bungie... Where do we even begin?
Tuesday was a big day. Really big. So big, in fact, that a little bit of the news ended up slipping into Wednesday. Many of you were tuned in to watch every detail as it was revealed, but there was a lot to cover. Let’s do a quick recap for the New Lights out there. Yes, you’re about to read an onslaught of links, but we couldn’t possibly cover everything without this turning into something that looks like patch notes:
  • The Witch Queen was announced, showing that even our enemies can bend Light to their will.
      • There’s too much info to sum up in a few bullets. Hit our product page for more!

This week at Bungie, we take a pass on Armor Mods and Exotics.
As we get closer to launch, I can’t help but feel we should keep these introductions short and sweet. So, with that in mind, I’ll keep this to a bulleted list:
  • Have you played Destiny 2 this week?
      • Check out the Epilogue. It’s pretty sweet. No spoilers!
  • We have less than two weeks until our Destiny 2 Showcase.
      • Are you hyped? We are.
  • We previewed some Season 15 Champion Mods this week.
      • Miss it? Well, here you go:

This week at Bungie, we begin to prepare for Cross Play!
Welcome to another installment of the TWAB. We have four more of these before the August 24 reveal! Wait a second... we only have four? Including this one? Oh wow. We have a bit to get through.
Let’s start with something that’s going on in the game right now. Solstice of Heroes. Our annual Solstice event is coming to an end next Tuesday, August 3. You have a little under five days to complete your armor objectives. White glows don’t have a deadline, so if you’re still gathering orbs (and objectives), take your time. Dungeons, Raids, and Competitive Crucible objectives for the glows can be completed any time.

Still with me? Cool. Let’s start looking at the future. We hosted a beta for this a few months back, but we’re happy to share more details about an upcoming feature that players have be... Read more
