Today marks the 34th anniversary of National Coming Out Day and the 35th anniversary of the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, National Coming Out Day is a reminder of the work done by generations of queer folks to continuously secure the safety to exist openly and be treated with dignity and respect.  
In societies across the world, our gender, sexuality, and romantic orientations are assumed from the day we are born. Society tells us over and over that being straight and cisgender is what is normal. We celebrate and honor this day because for everyone who identifies as LBGTQIA+, this idea of coming out and being our truest authentic selves is the single thread that connects our experiences as a community.

Last month, we stated without reservation that all of us deserve to choose our own path and access the healthcare we need. The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade cuts off millions of Americans from that access and leaves open the possibility of even further restrictions on life-saving healthcare for all of us.
Bungie is committed to ensuring that every one of our employees and their families have safe and affordable access to essential healthcare needs. As we continue to expand our digital-first workplace to more states, we will now be implementing a travel reimbursement program for any employee to use when they or a dependent cannot get access to the healthcare they need where they live. 
We remain undeterred in our commitment to stand up for reproductive choice and liberty.

On Saturday, May 14, a young white man drove hours from his home to a Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, and opened fire in a crowded supermarket, killing ten people and maiming three others. It has since been confirmed that this was an act of terror aimed at Black Americans and is being investigated as a hate crime. In a brand-new out-of-game event, we have assembled class fireteams from across the globe to participate in our first ever Guardian Games Cup - a friendly competition to see which team in the world has what it takes to come out on top. Bungie stands with the people of Ukraine and everyone impacted by the ongoing war.
At the time of this article being published, it is reported that over two million Ukrainians are displaced by an ongoing invasion, with no end in sight. Family, friends, homes and communities are being lost.
Through our Bungie Foundation, we are able to use philanthropic means to express our beliefs and values through the lens of humanitarian support. Last week, the Bungie Foundation committed to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the first 48 hours of their Game2Give charity initiative directly to humanitarian aid organizations in an effort to help the people impacted by this war. “Unfortunately, it looks like we’ve got a man down…” Joe Staten chuckles on stage during E3 2013. Jason Jones, Bungie’s founder, sounds more nervous. Unknown to him — to all of us really — a technician below the stage inadvertently severed the connection to Jason’s monitor. He stared at the crisp text on the display that simply read “No Signal.” What our team did know, however, was that “man down” meant something had gone south with this demo. The crowd watched as Jason’s character waved and walked forward a little. Moments later, the feed the crowd was watching switched over to a pre-recorded video and the show carried on. 

Destiny’s reveal to the world was an auspicious debut. And while over the last seven years the ride hasn’t always been smooth (for you or us), it has been memorable, and we endeavor to keep it that way.
