I want to say its a bug. I've had similar things happen before and after New War. It sounds like ambient background sounds are playing stupidly loud. I threw off my headphones once when I loaded into Orb Vallis, shit was so loud I freaked out.

Thanks to reports on here and the Forums, our team discovered the Protovyre Syandana has some issues tracking progress as client and in the open world. Our team is on a fix!

Options -> Controls tab -> Customize Controller -> PLACEMENT tab -> set to DEFAULTS

We're working on a permanent fix that would likely need to go out in a Hot-fix, if any other workarounds crop up I will update this thread with them!
Spent roughly 20 minutes of constant resetting, and power cycling due to the inability to fly up during the balloon sequence. It says to use LT (I’m on Xbox.) I get an audio change but nothing happens. I can go down however with no problem at all.
On ps5 I can’t ascend on the blimp. Seems to happen every time I try.
