Hello Miners,
We’re here with a quick cross-promotional spotlight: two new games are launching to Early Access this month via Ghost Ship Publishing!

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is coming out on February 14th, and SpellRogue is coming two days earlier on February 12th.

Granted, we’re a bit of a biased source here, but we think both games are super cool. We’ve got both trailers down below, plus links to each game’s Steam page. Check ‘em out!

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Made by: Funday Games (Aarhus, Denmark)
For fans of: Vampire Survivors, Brotato, Soulstone Survivors

Welcome to Deep Rock Galactic’s roguelike auto-shooter spinoff! Like always, you’re going down to Hoxxess to mine minerals and blast bugs. But this time, you’re going solo. Become a one... Read more

Hello Miners,
The Lunar Festival is now live in Deep Rock Galactic! We're bringing it back for the Year of the Dragon. We look forward to a peaceful coexistence between dragons, dwarves, and caves full of gold.

You'll find some new assignments (and their fashionable rewards) now live in the Mission Terminal, and Management worked through the night to decorate the Space Rig for the occasion. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to get fresh persimmons in space?

All Deep Rock Galactic employees are encouraged to partake in this optional company event. Failure to attend will be noted in next year's salary negotiations.

Here's what's on the menu for the Festival:
  • Earn the new Enter the Dragon hat! It's both draconic and iconic.
  • Collect previous exclusive headgear with the Last Year's Blessings assignment!
  • Rescue the lost Lunar Festival Dragons! We'll give you an XP ...

Hello Miners,
Sorry this post comes a few days late -- we got caught up rewatching our favorite movie, Crouching Miner, Hidden Dragon. Also I had influenza.

Anyway, the Lunar Festival is coming back for 2024! We've freshened up this seasonal event to ring in the Year of the Dragon, and we're bringing you a fresh crop of collectibles, delightful decorations and fun hats.

This year’s Lunar Festival begins on Thursday, February 1st at 13:00 CET, and it runs until Thursday, February 15th at 13:00 CET.

Here’s what’s in store!

Fresh ferocious finery
First thing’s first: the cool new hat. We’re welcoming the Year of the Dragon with this dashing new headgear, which features a movable jaw, wiggly whiskers and googly eyes to distract your foes. It’s called Enter the Dragon, because your head... Read more

Hello Miners (and statisticians),
We hope your new year is off to a delightful start. We also hope that one of your 2024 resolutions was "consume more infographics," because that's exactly what we're here to share!

2023 was a terrific year for Deep Rock Galactic, and for the crew at Ghost Ship Games too. We decided to recap the year (as usual) by digging deep in the data mines, and pulling up the most exciting, interesting, exciting, and silly statistics we could find, to understand Deep Rock Galactic by the numbers.

If you've ever wondered about:
  • The leading cause of death for dwarves on Hoxxes
  • Where Deep Rock Galactic sits on the list of best-reviewed games on Steam
  • How many times the average dwarf passes out drunk at the Abyss Bar per year
We've got all that below, plus bucketfuls of more fun facts and data! Give it a look.

Hope everybody's doing well, and thanks for such a fun yea... Read more

Hello Miners,
Great news: we fixed the hat!

To celebrate our nomination for the Steam Awards last month, we announced a sweet new hat: the Jagged Bugbasher! It was supposed to come out shortly after the initial blog post, but something about the hat made the whole game crash for anyone running older Ryzen CPUs.

After a bit of tinkering, we got the hat working now. We're not really sure why, or how, but it works.
So now you can grab it!

Pictured: An ancient helmet imbued with a strange and powerful aura. Legends say it contains the power to tear apart the very fabric of the world. Or at least to overheat a few CPUs.

All you've got to do is log in to Deep Rock Galactic before January 29th at 13:00 CET to claim it. It's not available for consoles quite yet, but we expect to have it out with the next patch, l... Read more

Hello Miners,
Holy smokes – we made the finals!

We’ve officially been nominated for the 2023 Steam Awards in the ‘Labor of Love’ category.

We’d like to say a big huge thank you to everyone who nominated us. But whether you nominated or not, we’d just like to say thanks for playing Deep Rock Galactic, and for making it such a fun and welcoming experience to share together. Nobody here at Ghost Ship Games ever imagined our silly space dwarf game would grow to where it is today.

It’s your enthusiasm and support that pushes us to keep working on Deep Rock Galactic; both by developing this game and expanding the DRG universe with other projects. We’ve still got a big huge pile of ideas for this game, so you can trust we'll updating it for a long time to come.

A special hat celebration
To celebrate our nomination, we've decided to... Read more

To be read in the voice of Mission Control:
‘Twas the night before Yuletide, and on the Rig on that eve,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Steeve.

The Oily Oafs were poured at the bar with care,
In hopes that Karl soon would be there.

The dwarves were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of Bittergems danced in their heads.

I put down my headset, reclined at my desk,
Grateful – at last! – for a moment of rest.

When out near the Drop Pod arose such a clatter,
I switched on the cameras, to see what was the matter.

What I saw made my warmhearted mood disappear:
The dwarves were awake, and they’d drunk all the beers.

Those inebriate miners were wild and at play,
They cheered and kicked foreign objects in the launch bay.

The jukebox blared while the...

Hello Miners,
Holiday season is upon us!

Management would like to clarify that the use of the word “holiday” here does not imply any paid time off. Instead, this holiday season, Deep Rock Galactic will be celebrating with some holly-jolly hard labor!

This time of year is about cherishing those you hold dear, and there’s nothing dearer to the Deep Rock Galactic corporation than the quarterly revenue report. If you feel that close colleagues, family members, or a general sense of holiday merriment are distracting you from sharing this priority, please report to the Medical Bay for a painless chemical readjustment.

The Yuletide 2023 event begins on Thursday, December 14th at 13:00 CET.

Here’s your first look at what’s coming:

Yearly performance bonus In recognition of the significant contributions of the DRG workforce, Management has approved a significant end-of-year bonus for all employees! Provided you’re willing to work for ... Read more

Hello Miners, It’s Steam Awards season again!

For those of you new to the Steam Awards, it’s basically like the Oscars, but 10 million times more important. Most of the award categories are focused on games that came out this year, but there’s one category where you can nominate Deep Rock Galactic: the “Labor of Love” category.

Here’s how Steam describes the award:

“This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years.”

We’d love to be nominated! Steam says we get a shiny trophy if we win, and we think that’d be neat.

It’s now been three and a half years since Deep Rock Galactic launched as Version 1.0... Read more

Hello Miners,
The November Maintenance Update is here! If you haven’t already seen the trailer, it’ll give you a good overview of everything that’s coming in this update (formally known as Patch S04.10). We’ll post that here, and you’ll find the full patch notes and all the details down below.

Toggle option for seasonal content
We’ve added the ability to opt out of Season content, for those of you that want to put your game into a ‘season neutral’ state.

To unlock this ability, you need to reach level 100 in the Performance Pass, and claim the level 100 reward. After you do that, a check box option will become available in the Season Terminal interface.

If you uncheck that box, here’s what happens:
  • The Lithophage Corruption Zone will disappear from the map in your Mis...

Hello Miners,
The witching hour is upon us. Hoxxes Halloween 2023 is officially here! It's the spooky season of thrills, chills and drills. Management warns all employees to ignore any superstitious rumors floating about the Space Rig -- we don't want this ghost malarkey getting in the way of a hard day's work.

Here are the horrors that await you:
  • Earn the new Mad Cap Clown mask, and transport your dwarf to the carnival of carnage
  • Snag all the masks and hats from previous Halloweens through the Last Year's Horrors assignment
  • Blast the shrieking skulls haunting the caves of Hoxxes, and deposit these cursed craniums for a double mission performance point bonus
  • Kick some pumpkins, get bit by bats and catch a fright from the spooky Space Rig decorations

Hello Miners,
November’s just around the corner, which means it’s almost time for the first maintenance update that we mentioned in our recent roadmap. We wanted to give you a quick overview of what we’re focusing on, just so you know what to expect.

Among smaller tweaks and fixes, we’ll be using this to introduce two bigger features: the first being a toggle option for seasonal content like Rockpox, and the second being a new Weapon Maintenance reward system.

Let’s take those two big ones first, and we’ll cover the rest down below.

Hello Miners,
There’s a cruel wind howling in the depths below. The moon gives off a sinister glow, casting shadows that seem to reach for you, clawing at you. Steeve is barking into the darkness, like he senses something you don't.

This can only mean one thing: Halloween is coming to Hoxxes.

The seasonal spook-tacular will return on Thursday, October 26th (13:00 CET), and it runs until Thursday, November 9th (13:00 CET). Management would like to emphasize that mining operations aren’t ramping down because of any alleged hauntings, and that company insurance policies do not cover exorcisms.

What do this event and a bad chiropractor have in common? They’re both gonna send a tingle down your spine! [HOLD FOR LAUGHTER + APPLAUSE] Scroll down to see all the event details.

The rogue wiggler It’s a Tuesday afternoon in August, and Harpa’s focus for the day is troubleshooting the upcoming sausage hat. The sausages are simply too wiggly.

Harpa Ellertsdóttir, 3D Artist at Ghost Ship Games, is making a new hat for the dwarves. You might not call it a hat by any conventional definition, but the dwarves will be using it as such. It’s a metal bucket with a leather chinstrap, and a big bouquet of sausages flopping out the top.

But making the perfect wiggly sausage hat is easier... Read more

Important note: All the work on Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game is done externally by MOOD Publishing and the designer, Ole Steiness, with us from Ghost Ship Games supporting as IP stakeholders and playtesters. Here at GSG, we're still hard at work developing more Deep Rock content for Steam and other platforms. More on that soon. :)

Hello Miners,
When the board game adaptation of Deep Rock Galactic shipped, it was in the biggest possible box that MOOD Publishing could find. There just wasn’t a box big enough for all the ideas they wanted to include.

"The box for the original Deep Rock Galactic board game is the absolute biggest box we could get,” says Jonas Springborg, Art Director at MOOD Publishing. “The factory we worked with, their machines couldn't do a bigger one, so they would have had to hand-fold every single box. So we were literally out of space for stuff to include in the base game."

Now, the team’s back with two big expan... Read more
