As mentioned by u/IronDarck, the battle can be replayed and the XP boost will stack, as intended :)
Forever? or are there a maximum ammount of times you can replay it?
You can replay the battle as much as you want, with a 3 hour cap on the XP boost :)

Question about the area pet, if someone already has a skin say the desert skin, can they still see it and "obtain it" again?
Mune may be visible to you in a specific area if you have already gained that skin (as you say, for example, in the desert) if you are around that area when he spawns, but you won't be able to obtain the same skin again :)
You'll get a message saying you have already obtained that specific skin

As u/Astral_of_Six has mentioned, if you have the chatbox enlarged or the tasklist UI (the flag icon) open, that will hide the questions so it doesn't overlap with other UI components.
This may be the cause of your issue - let me know if you have any further issues with it :)

Just going to pop a comment on here in case anybody is wondering where to start The Drop. If you head over to Burthorpe lodestone, you'll see an NPC named Charity nearby. She will let you know when the next round of The Drop is active!
