Ooops!
Ooops!
The 'Myths of the White Lands' was the first real 'quest' (outside of the Christmas events) which had us explore the Land of Snow. At this point in time it's become quite dated however in regards to graphics... but the quest still takes place in the fragmented world of 'Renmark' (The first Violet is Blue quest had a book inside of Yeti-town which explained the lore).
During Christmas events we've been to the Land of Snow a fair few times as well, but the Violet-quests are the only ones which allow for an easy return.
When you speak to a certain Yeti inside of the town (from the first violet-quest) he mentions possible adventures outside of the town. The world of Renmark just offers so many possibilities for holiday and seasonal quests and content... and it sucks to see that potential remain untapped. The stories you could create with the different seasonal Queens/kings would be absolutely perfect.
First of all, I want to thank you for your awesome post! You've touched on some really good points and I'd like to mention a few things in response.
Hopefully, when I get some downtime I'll be able to go back and update the original Yeti town hub to include the decorations you put up and to add the characters you met throughout the second quest to make it feel like a proper area in the world, that evolves as you progress through the stories it contains. This should hopefully resolve the main upset you've highlighted in your post!
You're spot on with the fact that Renmark offers so many possibilities in terms of story and pretty environments. Just reading the book outside the big house sparks so many awesome ideas with the land of summer, spring and autumn!
Appreciate all your kind words in the post and I'm hopeful that some of the things I touched on above will excite you + fix some things you didn't like as much.
- Raksha will no longer change target randomly in duo mode, and will instead focus one target until provoked.
gonna do this to solak or?
Got it fixed on Friday, waiting on QA testing :D
Can we get some more details on this as page prices are crashing. Most of the time at Solak we don't make more than a few mil considering several hours dry of no pages.
50 to 55 stone spirit drop or 400 to 450 battle staves still sucks. This is a punishing boss and not cheap to kill.
Will give more info in due time, as for your concerns with the drops, we looked at everything and even completely replaced battlestaves with a better more valuable drop.
Please tell me theres no diagonal puzzles like this one from Violet is blue: https://runescape.wiki/images/thumb/e/e6/Violet_is_Blue_crossing_the_ice_solution.png/500px-Violet_is_Blue_crossing_the_ice_solution.png?f066f
I really liked the quest upto those then quit after many attempts frustrated at runescapes square movement system trying to go to diagonal.
I still haven't completed it because of those so any tips appreciated
I can tell you that there are no frustrating puzzles. Gone for more warmth and story with this one.
Completion of the first quest is a requirement so might I encourage you to go back and finish so you can enjoy all that Monday has to offer <3
Hopefully the on task drop rate is still substantially rare (1/500ish?).
As I mentioned in a reply above, time and effort was spent learning from the data of the tasks completed per day/week/month to come up with a solid drop rate. We'll monitor the changes with a keen eye and go from there. This is also the reason we'll be withholding the rates for the time being.
Just for clarification, is there going to be a dedicated Christmas event like in the past, or is it going to be Violet is Blue
2too, and the Yak Track to cover it?
The Christmas Cracker will be making a return and Violet is Blue Too is specifically Christmas themed this time around instead of 'festive/holiday' with the inclusion of two pretty sweet Christmas holiday items.
ssh sshh dont feed the troll, this change is amazing thank you :)
I know it is! Thank you too ;)
The grimoire pages being expensive, is due to Solak not being lucrative as a boss in it's entirety. If only a few people do the boss, which is the only source of the pages, the pages will be expensive of course.
Instead of making Solak like rots, i.e. guaranteed 1 page and 50% for 2, they just made Solak even less lucrative. Even though they are buffing base drops, the grimoire pages will go down, which might have been the main goal, and the main source of income was grimoire pages. Instead of making Solak more attractive, they just said "Fk it" and just slapped grimoire pages on slayer monsters.
I promise you... It was not a 'f*ck it' fix at all. A lot of time and effort went into looking at all the data from daily task completions of LGC + daily Solak kills + pages coming in daily/weeky/monthly.
Welp, thank God we'll be getting cheaper page drops from Solak and higher amount of Stone Spirits to make up for the loss. Sounds like a great fix that was totally necessary. /s
Why so quick to react or judge? You haven't even seen the changes or the impact they're going to have.
As I mentioned in my followup tweets, we're the ones with the data and we know a lot more about the behind the scenes of the economy and the effect this change will make than you do.
Looking into this now!
Update: Got the fix through to QA and hopeful to get it hotfixed shortly.
Looking into this now!
AoD is already hard-mode for Nex.
Nahhh
Hey! I read this and thought, there is no way this is true so jumped into the code...
When Araxxi dies, the ring doesn't play any effect... All that happens is the NPC is removed and replaced with the corpse for looting.
You do not need the ring on for the last hit on Araxxi, only when you click the chest to loot.
Hope this clears some of the confusions in this thread up <3
EDIT: It looks like someone beat me to the edit on the Wiki page so TY!
This is awesome!
You owe someone a 40b hat do you not
I do not, on the stream I announced the bet I said it was only for soloing AoD within a month of release.
EASY!!! Congratulations on a massive feat!
Yeah kinda sad. I just want christmas rewards. Yak track it is I guess.
One of the learnings from the first quest was the lack of a seasonal reward. You'll have to wait and see though!
I've fixed this and am awaiting QA on it. The animation that plays in the live game is correct but the hitting a tick later was not an intended side-effect.
The fix will be keeping the animation to telegraph its a bleed, but the first hit will now come at the correct time.
The spec should never have been hitting through HP caps. That was a bug from when the crossbow originally released.
As for the hitting a tick later, this is due to the other fix to allow the bow to work with things like challenge gems etc etc.
It's a little complicated to explain and I didn't do the fix that causes the 1 tick delay but can explain it a little bit. Essentially, in order for the blight damage to run through our core combat system properly we need to add a 'fake npc' that applies damage to the target NPC which forces it to happen a tick later than intended.
