You can claim your reward any time after if you happen to miss the Santa event. It's just a bit of fun flair and you don't miss out on anything by not being there. If you miss it, just rock up whenever after the event has happened and claim.

What about new players who haven't done the 300 quests and haven't accepted that as the game mechanic?

You could just do the quest so it doesn't appear anymore.

Yeah, just bung all your feedback for the cape here. Things like removing a bit of the curve to make it flat, similar to the older capes ect

Some jmod said (and I believe it's on the website and wiki), that he himself or they are looking in to it. I asked on reddit if it would be possible like it now is in-game > RGB colors, to not choose one colour, but choose three colours. My example was Red to red, Green to black and blue to red > so it would be red black red smoke (slayer vibe). If I can remember correctly, I got the reply that was not yet possible due some feat...

We ran a test in a stream where we completely turned that off and it looks bloody brilliant. Mod Blkwitch has done has great work in this area

Individual isn't possible atm am afraid. Not without a significant overhaul of our particle systems and how they are attached to models.

I've had to do the particle recolour stuff content side without the support of engine and it took quite a while.
