No earlier than 10:00 a.m. PST on November 6, we will take the Visions of N’Zoth Public Test Realms offline for a maintenance period, during which we will delete all test characters.

When the PTR is reopened thereafter, we intend to test the introductory experience for this content update.

A few minutes ago, we enacted a change to how the populations are calculated in the WoW Classic realm list. Since shortly after the launch of WoW Classic, the realm list population labels have indicated real-time population levels.

Now, the Low/Medium/High/Full labels are based on peak population over the last 7 days. We believe this provides a more-useful picture of a realm’s population to players who are making decisions about which realm to play on or transfer to.

The realms which have not yet moved to one layer will continue to be marked “Layered”.

This week, we discovered a bug that came along with our holiday. The bug caused this misbehavior where players got locked to raid instances on entry.

We fixed the bug yesterday afternoon, and a few minutes ago, we reset raid locks for affected players.

Anyone who enters a raid instance should now experience the expected behavior with their Raid ID.

The most recent PTR build introduced an early version of our Corrupted Items system, and we’d like to highlight a few aspects of how the Corruption system works, and our goals as we iterate on it.


How Corruption Works

Items from Ny’alotha, Mythic Keystone dungeons in Season 4, BfA PvP Season 4, the Heroic Darkshore Warfront, and other new sources of loot that are updated with Season 4 will not be able to Warforge or Titanforge. Items from older content will retain an effective “ceiling” of item level 455, as they do today.

There will be a chance for these new items to be Corrupted by N’Zoth. A Corrupted item has a powerful beneficial property, similar to many of the Benthic effects seen in Nazjatar, but has a new detrimental stat: Corruption. Items can have varying levels of Corruption, with the amount of Corruption present correlating directly with the power of the beneficial upside (for example: an item might give 4% Critical Strike ...

With today’s update to the Visions of N’Zoth PTR, testers can now experience the new affix coming to Mythic Keystone dungeons in Season 4.

When a Mythic Keystone dungeon is Corrupted, players will find obelisks throughout the dungeon that allow you to enter Ny’alotha and confront powerful servants of N’Zoth. With each obelisk, players must make a terrible choice, as all servants that are not killed will join the final boss encounter.

In order to test this quickly, PTR-only Keystone vendors have been placed Boralus and Dazar’alor. They sell customizable Keystones and scrolls that can be used to set the level and affixes of the Keystones.

  • Notably, Season 4 also has a change that we’re making to the Quaking affix. Now, players can no longer damage themselves with this effect, and damage to nearby allies is increased from 20% to 40% of maximum health.

The bugfix to leash behavior of groups of enemies makes the game behave like it did in original WoW. We discovered the problem because of Solenor the Slayer, but it was a bug with all linked combat groups’ leashing behavior. The fix only affects linked combat groups with a leash timer, so there are still plenty of situations when you might attract the attention of multiple enemies and be able to split one off.

I’ve updated the Affliction section in the OP with recent new changes. It now reads:

  • Warlock
    • Affliction
      • Deathbolt now deals 20% of the total remaining damage of the Warlock’s damage over time effects on the target (was 30%).
      • Drain Soul damage increased by 50%.
      • Nightfall now increases the damage of Shadow Bolt by 50% (was 25%), and now activates 33% more often.
        • *Developers’ notes: One of the key concepts about Affliction Warlock is spreading damage over time spells on a number of different targets. While Deathbolt keys off these types of spells, it provides more-than-expected burst damage and outperforms the other two talents in every situation. In addition to reducing Deathbolt’s effectiveness, we’re improving the other two options to give more options to Affliction Warlocks.

We’ve implemented a bugfix this week that should now be live in this region.

  • Fixed a bug that caused creatures such as Solenor the Slayer to misbehave when pursuing the player. Groups of creatures that commit to combat as a group will now all continue to pursue whenever any one of them are struck by a player attack or ability.

Solenor the Slayer should no longer reset if the player strikes the adds that he summons while he’s rooted, or if the player strikes Solenor himself. And now, if you aggro one of a group of creatures in any zone, and then you keep occasionally hitting any one of them, the whole group will follow you across the zone.

Hallow’s End will . . . end on November 2.

Hello!

Earlier this week, the Mythic Hall of Fame for Azshara’s Eternal Palace reached its capacity, and guilds around the world have until the next weekly reset in each region to earn their Feat of Strength. At that time, Mythic difficulty will become available to cross-realm groups.

Along with the closure of the Hall of Fame and the Achievement, we intend to make the following tuning changes during weekly maintenance in each region:

Dungeons and Raids

  • Azshara’s Eternal Palace
    • Lady Ashvane
      • Lady Ashvane’s health reduced by 5% in Mythic difficulty.
      • Waterlogged periodic damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
      • Rippling Wave damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
    • Queen Azshara
      • The "Stand Together!" and "Stay!" decree combination is no longer possible in Heroic difficulty.
