As players continue to level up to 40 and experience all that Phase 2 has to offer, we’ve closely monitored in-game progress, feedback from the community, and bug reports. With scheduled weekly maintenance next week, we’ll make the following adjustments to some classes that are underperforming.

  • Hunter
    • Chimera Shot damage increased to 120% of weapon damage (was 100%) and Chimera Shot Serpent Sting damage increased to 48% of Serpent Sting damage (was 40%).
    • Explosive Shot base damage done before Attack Power increased by 15%.
    • Carve damage increased to 65% of weapon damage (was 50%).
  • Mage
    • Frostfire Bolt base damage increased by 50%, and its increased damage from bonus spell damage increased by 16%, identical to the value for Fireball.
    • Spellfrost Bolt base damage increased by 50%, and its increased damage from bonus spell damage increased by 14%, identical to the value for F...

Yes! Very much so.

This week, we happen to be in what looks like a lull, because so much focus is on behind-the-scenes work. We’re spinning up the next round of new invites to the Council, which means we’ve been cataloguing and vetting and sorting through the thousands of applications. That also means that players who joined the Council in the first couple of months of 2023 will depart, and that’s a different set of behind-the-scenes work.

For the devs, there’s currently a lot of focus on upcoming content that is not yet being publicly examined. That will shift in the coming weeks, as we reveal some things and re-open our public test realms and then comm...

We’ve noticed some points that could benefit from additional clarification.

  • Demonfire Barrage will cast Incinerate for Destruction rather than Shadow Bolt. This is missing from our blog post and will be added.

  • Diabolic Ritual will be tuned on a per specialization basis. This means that final numbers may be different for each specialization to achieve a similar cadence between the two, however, the overall mechanic will remain the same.

Thank you for the thoughts and discussion so far!

A clarification:

Diabolic Ritual is cyclical, starting with Overlord and ending with Pit Lord. So, when you summon a demon it will always be in the order of: Overlord, then Mother of Chaos, then Pit Lord, and then Diabolic Ritual will cycle back to Overlord.

As we continue to monitor class performance and player feedback in Season of Discovery, we’ve designed the following tuning adjustments, which we intend to implement with scheduled weekly maintenance:

Druid

  • Lifebloom mana cost reduced by 50%.
    • Developers’ notes: Lifebloom refunds half its new base mana cost per stack when it expires or is dispelled. This part has always functioned in this way, and we’ve seen a bit of confusion around how the mana return portion of Lifebloom functions.
  • Living Seed now heals for 50% of the critical heal that planted the seed (was 30%). This heal now blooms from non-periodic healing received, in addition to any damage taken.
  • Nourish mana cost reduced by 27%.
  • Moonkin Form...

    • Tindral’s health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
    • Fiery Vines’ health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the Oracle Hero Talent tree.

One of our goals in sharing these Hero Talent trees so early in the process was to give us adequate time to evaluate and change things as necessary. After reading your feedback, discussing the talent tree, and playtesting the concept internally, we’ve decided to revisit the Oracle tree, especially regarding its focus on replacing Power Infusion.

Thanks again!

Hello!

We mentioned last week that we want to add some new revered reputation rewards for the Azeroth Commerce Authority and Durotar Supply and Logistics factions. We originally planned to do this yesterday, but we hit a technical snag with some of the rewards, because they’re a bit unique to original WoW.

It’s looking like a short delay, and we’re working to put the rewards in place and share some more info about them very soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Many aspects of Dragonflight have reflected a shift in philosophy towards designs that allow us to enjoy reaching a point where we feel “done” with a character’s power progression. Legendaries returned as an exception to this. Legendaries are intended to be a special reward that some players would aspire to obtain over the course of a season, demonstrating a display of excellence in the most challenging content.

As Season 3 has unfolded, we’ve increasingly heard feedback from frustrated players who have been clearing Amirdrassil weekly on Heroic difficulty with no Fyr’alath in sight, and we want to give those players a surer path to achieving their goal.

Earlier today, with a hotfix that is now live, we significantly increased the effect of all Embers of Fyr’alath for players who receive them. This increase is retroactive and applies to all players whether or not you’ve consumed any Embers you may have.

As always, thank you for your feedback!

Added to the OP here, as we now intend to make the following additional adjustments with scheduled weekly maintenance:

Priest

  • Mind Spike damage increased by 10%.

  • Void Plague damage increased by 10%.

  • Shadow Word: Death base damage before modifiers decreased by 40% and spellpower coefficient adusted to 42.9% (was 64.3%).

  • Developers’ notes: Overall, this should result in a 33-40% damage reduction on Shadow Word: Death, depending on the amount of spellpower the priest has. Shadow Word: Death has been doing a larger percentage of overall priest damage than intended, and we feel like this could begin to put additional pressure on healers in PvE, as spellpower gear improves and the damage that priest...

With scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we’ll make the following adjustments to a few classes in Season of Discovery.

Druid

  • Swipe now scales with attack power, gaining 10% of attack power as damage. Threat caused by Swipe has been greatly increased.
  • The Berserk rune now also causes Lacerate to hit 3 targets.
  • The duration of Rip has been increased to 16 seconds (was 12 seconds).
  • The next Starfire cast after the Starsurge rune ability now has its damage increased to 80% (was 66%).
    • Corrected a bug causing this bonus damage to be lower than intended at level 40.

This is just a bug. It was introduced with some software updates we did during maintenance. We’re developing a fix, and the fix will require realm restarts, so it could be this way for a while.

Enjoy it 'til then!
