Edit: WAIT THIS MEANS NO MARKZ ON THE DIVE. f**kKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

Hopefully we still get to see Catching Up with Doublelift. I will die a little inside if we lose one of the best pieces of content that the LCS has scene in half a decade.

I don't want to be the one to tell you, but as one of the producers of Catching Up it's probably gonna be on the shelf for awhile...

I do think content offerings will stay more in that lane though and the envelope will keep getting pushed but it's hard to justify a MarkZ driven show without MarkZ.

(Mark is great and I'm stoked for him btw, he just can't do everything at once try as he might)

I unironically want them to make content where the LCS casters and VCT casters interact (like pretend to cast each others games or something). It would be so funny.

I pitched this for start of VCT this year and it never went too far, maybe this is a good year for a repitch.

Correct.

As someone that loves Mark and believes in his drive and talent in every way he should not be allowed to pbp LOL

Yeah it does a really good job of contextualizing the importance of this event within his career, and then contextualizing his career in terms of where he's at today. Really good stuff by Riot

I can tell you if that post script didn't exist we probably wouldn't have done this piece right now.

The fact that it's redemptive given current career context is what sells it.

So, from what I understand, pastry is the lead on the replay files, and this year he moved into more of a producer role, which is why you see such an improvement in the broadcast itself, but it means he doesn't have the same time to make these. Also, good content just takes time so 🤷‍♂️

If anything I actually have more time to make these!

Mostly though I have significantly more transferrable skills which means I can be more helpful when building it out.

Delays with this stuff are a complicated mix of reasons but the biggest one will always be 'do we have a story worth telling that we can tell now?' and when I looked back at this moment the Features team connected it with current Zven and it all fell into place.

Replay files - love all the funny content from LCS but would be nice to bring back some more serious content. So many more iconic moments that could be covered and summarized by a single play:

- TL's series vs IG in 2019 MSI - the impact neeko moment

- TSM's legendary gauntlet run in 2020 summer - the spica shen L taunt

- EG"s miracle run in 2022 spring - the danny pentakill

....still miss Dash tho.

Out of curiosity, what IS your favourite content/show from the LCS?

I think a lot about how much I miss casting with Mitch.

We have hugely different backgrounds and skill levels at the game but we were very aligned on how we thought games should be delivered on-air and had similar senses of humour we got to share during casts.

Miss that boi, hope he's doing well.

Are you cosplaying as the long haired guy in catchup with doublelift?

No I just produce that show, Helper Guy does his own thing.

To clarify, I currently freelance but work closely with Riot.

I was a caster on the LCS (NA Pro League) for a long while and now I help them make content!

First international event I can think of without Phreak, it's gonna hurt more than people realize I think. Rewatch old teasers and memory videos, so many Phreak casting moments created massive hype. He'll be missed!

Phreak is a lot of different things to different people good and bad but he was almost always clutch af at international.

Doublelift said on costream when it aired that this one was recorded after their win streak into playoffs iirc

This is correct.

He also has not seen the show before from what I could glean so came in about as unprepared as you see in the episode AFAIK.
