For clarity, I don't mind demoing/being demoed. I just believe that demo chasing specifically shouldn't be celebrated in the community because 9/10 it's one player trying to piss off/annoy/upset another player, and I think gamers should treat other gamers better than that.
You say that as though that's not a 100% legitimate strategy. In hockey, there's a team role called "pest", sometimes also known as "rat". That player's primary job is to get under the skin of the players on the opposing team. He might score a few decent goals now and then (Brad Marchand, for example), but the reason why his coaches love him is because he will make the opposing team furious, and their play will suffer as a result. His other, more skilled teammates, will take care of the scoring.
