Sorry to break it to you but Im fairly certain that Rey Scavengers new face IS GL Reys face.

That makes sense, I wish you would stop doing all these things lol but I get it, people wanna see the goods.

Its an informed opinion so even if Im wrong, the reasons are still valid so its worth typing so players get some insight on our (previous lol) process

Lol, different reasons and different leads at the time. I was around for GAS but wasnt a lead back then. Once I became a lead my priority was “no more GAS” and started a new pipeline which made SLKR, RH Poe, Cara Dune, etc.

Also stylistic discrepancies are usually not approved. The face on GAS isnt popular but the model is consistent within itself. In these leaked reworks they are not, photoreal face with a cartoonish body is a problem.

I said “used in an event” like, you know, the JKL event.

JKA got two rounds of edits, one for the Padme event where we made small changes and two because we wanted to be consistent with GAS (opportunity)so we changed his face. That didnt work so we reverted.

If these models are getting edits now its because they'll be featured in a new event (GL Kenobi) or like I said, updated new player experience with Farmboy Luke getting the face from the JKL model.

Not sure at all! Ive been gone for a year + and enough people have left the team so they can easily change some pipelines. If its legit then I hope they make further changes cause the realism of the faces isnt congruent with the stylization of the body.

Those look fake.

Reason one: just look at the faces, thats an Anakin photo badly photoshopped

Reason two: If we were gonna redo the faces wed remodel the body as well but Lukes body is in the old cartoony style and very low poly, Anakin still has his huge hulk hands. Makes no sense, plus Lucas would never approve that.

Reason three: Models get redone for reasons suck as reworks, use in an event or opportunity. If theyre redoing the First Time User Experience that WOULD give them an excuse to redo the first set of models the player would get, I definitely would push for that, but it would never make it to a build that you can datamine without the rest of the stuff like updated icons (which they did for JKA but not Luke)

Stranger things have happened and I could be wrong but my guess is that this is just somebody trying to get their 15 minutes.

This was before GLs and Ults were a thing, even internally. Once we decided GLs would get an ultimate ability this previous idea got scrapped.

It can still come back someday in a reworked form cause why not, like if GL Rey somehow upgraded to Rey Skywalker or if they introduced a way to level up GMY to GL Yoda, but thats purely me speculating on my own.

I made most of these forever ago. Back when we were discussing if portraits where worth making I made like 40 in a day to make sure we had a backlog (which is why we have unreleased ones) and kept the habit to make portraits out of new event/marquee images as they came up. That way design always has options when they need portraits and minimizes the art requests.

Still annoyed they haven't used the Scavenger Rey one though, its the best one.

People at CG, especially Doja and TopHat, are f*cking hilarious. The difference is whether corporate partners are cool with the finer points of communication since at that point you represent corporate interests, its a whole thing.

I actually work for Scopely now (not on the MSF team tho) so Im not going to provide an opinion on who does what better, but I will say SWGOH does focus on making sure F2P has avenues to progress. That, in turn, does create a segment of players that have certain expectations which I think are not in line with the current mobiles game market trends, which MSF does cater to.

It took me a year working on the game until I learned that screen even existed. That was a fun meeting.

Yeah a bunch of times, I was in charge of his cinematics for all events so I made the storyboards as well so Im pretty used to him ... but its all NDA’d work so yeah. I did start a for-fun illustration of him though, I can show that when its done.

When it comes to KOTOR though, you can also blame me for the Mission and Canderous redesigns, those were all me, haha.

Hell yeah, Rey is awesome. Big fan.
