We hear ya. Nothing concrete planned but wanted to acknowledge that this is a problem statement we're looking into.

I'm hoping this "demand for team based content" will end up in a Clash type system like in League ! Very good changes so far, thanks Riot

We're excited on our end to get this team based feature up and rolling but it'll be a bit before its out live - its a large feature. More details in the future!

But... What about Sage? That didn't sound too conservative.

I'd say we have taken a more conservative approach with Sage since Closed Beta which has lead to the issue today. We were way off on what we thought her power level was early on and we've made measured changes over multiple patches to address that.

The issue today is that... well... we've hit her multiple times over many patches where it may of been better for us to be less conservative earlier and rip the bandaid off quicker. It sucks for Sage mains to constantly see her in patches. We think she's in a much better state today and is still impacting the game in a healthy way.

Let me know what you find. K, thx.

Fun fact, she’s still one of the highest winrates in the game across all MMRs!

Those Sage mains are crushing it!

I could swear reading through patch threads that most of you don't even enjoy this game.

People are way too addicted to the Fortnite model of balance changes. Making sweeping changes to the way the game is played every two weeks doesn't benefit the competitive integrity of the game.

It's understandable why people have these types of responses to patches. Making changes that are sup-par is an easy way to burn trust with players. We are bound to make mistakes, and I personally have made changes back on LoL that took MONTHS to regain trust from the players

On VALORANT, we're taking a more conservative route to balance early on in the game's life-cycle. It's important that the game stays competitive and the time and effort that you all are putting into the game isn't wasted. Each week we are learning something new about how you all are playing the game, and we need to take that into account rather than making sweeping changes every two weeks.

Correct.

Thank you for the report. My team is looking into this issue right now and I apologize for the inconvenience.

!pin Yup... this is my mistake. We'll be moving the missing mission into the following week, reducing the requirements to 35 Ult usages and adding 2k XP to it as compensation.

Damn, this is such an incredibly thorough write-up. I'm a software engineer, so I write a lot of documentation, and this post is like a guidebook on how to design an important repeatable process, whether that process is in video game development or craft beer brewing.

Great job to the Valorant devs for what is clearly a huge amount of work and thought put into the balance process, and particular props to Milkcow for some really excellent technical writing!

Thanks! Appreciate the compliments. Balance and game health need to be structured to have a strong foundation and processes that are repeatable for years... maybe even over a decade.

I think that counts under "sentiment data," even if not directly mentioned. They also talk about devs watching streams later to gather this data on Raze, which definitely falls out of the scope of a survey

This is correct. We read many message boards, watch a lot of streams and directly talk with players to gather sentiment data on top of the surveys we send out.

Will the old set of mission disappear ?

Or will I get the new set after I'm done with the old set ?

Weeklies will not disappear until the end of the pass' duration. If you did not finish the first week it will stay there until it is completed and then week 2 will roll in.

Also waiting on them. I hope this week has interesting missions and not just "Deal damage" or "Pick up ultimate orbs" too.

The missions won't be incredibly robust in the short term. We've focused on letting the player play the game and reward them for it rather than shift their behaviors towards focusing on a specific action within a session to min/max their mission.

The rule of thumb I've been using is... "If 10 players are on this mission, what does that match look like?" and if its not a match of VALORANT with 10 players trying to win, I've strayed away from it. Example being something like "Get 10 knife kills", while novel, it breaks down what VALORANT is and detracts from the Agents and gunplay heavily. That being said we'll be adding more and more missions incrementally in the future.

Yes! There will be a new set rolling out in about 5 hours for all regions. This will be the same time each week for the remainder of this pass. I'll bring it up with the internal team about better tying the sets with patches per region as it seems like that is the expectation in the thread.

Hey all, here's some context. We're aware that some regions are down right now, this was not planned and we're trying to get them fixed now.

Huh, just had this reported to me through a different chat. I'll take a look, the dailies should have a 24hr duration, not 12. Something is off there and we'll take a look.

Not your jobs. The task itself as I said to this guy earlier. It wasn't supposed to imply losing a job over a dumb misjudgement. It could perhaps have been worded better.

This is the same mistake Apex made with its Battlepass pacing and was lightened drastically in later seasons. In season 1 they lightened the load with big bonus weeks of double exp in order to bridge people over the gap.

In essence the thing with these Battle Pass features I enjoy is getting something to work on and progress towards, but not when its outcome is going to never happen. Paying for something you won't get usually only happens on a Battle Pass that has been poorly designed and, right now, without extra ways to earn points, that's where this is at for anyone that actually has to work or has a family.

I hear ya and empathize with your sentiment. The pass should be achievable. It's going to be hard and take investment but ideally the payout should be worth it. If its not, we'll adjust it on our side. Hopefully the clarity in the top post helps alleviate your feelings towards the pass.
